Good
afternoon everyone, it's Matt Burgan here from a very sunny, warm Casey
Fields. The Melbourne v St Kilda clash will start at 2.30pm. We're not
far away.
2:20
The Saints have just run onto the ground. We won't be far away! Matt.

Big Crowd there Burgo??
2:22
Hmm
... hard to tell. I reckon about 3,000 at this stage. I'm up in the
stands and not sure how many are below ... looking at the gates though,
quite a few people are still coming through.
2:24
It really is cricket weather. It's going to be a very hot one. Six on the bench today for each team. No rotation caps.

About to kick for goal - Byrnes kicks a ripper. Lovely goal. Dees kick opening goal. Rodan worked well in that passage.

Melbourne 23 to St Kilda 1

Are these updates annoying anyone?

2:40
Pedersen to Rodan to Nicholson ... send the ball forward out of a centre bounce. Good work by the trio
2:42
The Dees are up by 22 points.
2:42
Rodan working well in the middle - winning the ball well.

2:45

Pedersen rucking at the moment.

2:45

Frawley on Riewoldt now

2:45

St Kilda lining up for first goal via Tom Lee

2:45

It's off the hands through for a behind

Wow..... Great start..... Go Dees!

Easy Tat.... 3+ quarters to go lol

2:46

Terlich out of defence finds D-Rod. Dees push forward

2:47

Nice intecept mark by Colin Garland in front of Jason Blake

2:47

Macdonald gains a 50m penalty after late contact from Maister.

2:48

Magner and Watts - good hussling work by the duo on the wing. Boundary throw in.

Burgo, your commentary is awesome. I'm in my study trying to catch up on some work and really thrilled by the detailed, structured, Melbourne-orientated commentary. Much better than the commentary on the AFL match-day site and almost as good as having the radio on.

Now I had better try to switch off, do some work and revisit in, say, 10 45 minutes time or so.

Burgo saying Sylvia's done a few good things early.

2:49

Milne shanks a kicks inside 50m - and it's marked by Aaron Davey

2:50

Sylvia boots Dees forward. Done some good things early.

2:50

Garland now on Riewoldt

2:50

Joel Macdonald drives the ball deep into 50m.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
