Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

*Likely keepers have been added alongside coaches' names on the opening post. Just for interest's sake and also to possibly guide strategy when assessing who's off the table.

Does anyone remember who the 2012 Premier and Runner-Up was?

My keepers are looking like:

Watson Ryder

Fyfe Shiels

Jacklives here is a no go for Ufooty this year. Combined with Deevoted, that brings us down to 16.

Yet to sign on from last year are:

WattsCookn (last year's premier) has confirmed he'll be back.

Robbo

Dappa Dan

JCB

Snomed

Eth

I want to get this sorted out as soon as possible so if you are one of these people, or know one of these guys, then please confirm one way or another. I will put a deadline on entry which will probably be in the next couple of weeks.

And if anyone trades before the draft it is with, and only with, the four nominated players and future picks.

For instance - If I have Goddard, Dangerfield / Ziebell, Harwood - I cannot trade Goddard for an upgrade of Harwood and then use Grimes as my 4th 'keeper'.

With that understood - can anyone offer a trade for Goddard that gets me an upgrade on Harwood?

This would mean two lower ranked players with the new team taking both Goddard and Harwood OR giving me a better deal and getting a pick above where Harwood would be.

If anyone does any trades pre-draft - this may get complicated so everyone be patient.

you'll have to submit pre-draft trades to me via this forum.... I need to manually update the draft order.

To help in trading i'll try and get everyone online ASAP, then I can set the order of the draft and we'll know what picks are available for trading.

RPFC what are you talking about?

I have heaps of Rookies I wont be using : Steven Motlop, Gary Rohan, Jonothon Patten, Billy Longer, Thomas Bugg, Jesse Stringer

If interested how do we trade? I don't get it?

PS : Eth 38 is missing in action ? S-T-I-N-G-A will get a gig surely!

Ok, the reason why I don't like us trading outside of the 4 keepers is because it extends the strong teams from last year into this year if they are trading surplus players for picks.

We can discuss it. It's not a big deal. I am happy with whatever people decide.

But be warned - if we get to trade away last years team it is in effect meaning that we have a whole team full of keepers - as we are getting to trade them...

Given that our keepers are still up in the air pending draft/holding out for possible NAB cup injuries I think we should be able to trade whoever?

That said, my view is that we shouldn't be able to trade outside keepers for RP's reason - they're not really keepers if we can keep them and trade to upgrade from outside the 4.

I like this trading idea, although I think it's coz I could offload josh Kennedy for a keeper who is better than Ryan bastinac haha

Deeflog you have been added to the comp. Please confirm your commitment. S-t-i-n-g-a you're next in line.

I'm lost on this pre-draft trading thing. What was the point of all that late season horse-trading in 2012 if we're just going to go change it all up before the start of round 1? I'm for keeping things as they are but will defer to JA's decision on it.

Also ... who does Deeflog (and any other new coach) get allocated as his 'keepers'? Or does he/they just take over the list of a previous coach?

JA?

New teams will have an old team allocated to them... decided at random after we finalise numbers.

I'm going to give JCB and Eth until mid-day Sunday 17th Feb. Then I'll put it out to new people.

As for trading: for simplicity here is the rules pre-draft:

Each trade must have equal numbers of keepers, and equal numbers of rookie keepers.

So you can trade a keeper with another keeper with picks added on.

Or a rookie with a rookie with picks.

But you can't trade a keeper for a rookie, or 2 keepers for a keeper, or just picks for a keeper.

Trades can be submitted to me for approval on this forum, and I can advise people of what can and can't be done.

Wait - I am confused by JCB's post.

Just clarify - I have nominated S. Thompson, J. Redden / A.Miles, C.Beams as my keepers.

I have Thomas, Carrazzo and Sylvia who may be of interest to people. Could I trade one of them for a rookie keeper to go ahead of Miles or Beams?

You cannot trade non-keepers because by trading them you are 'keeping' them.

Do you get what I am saying?

You can trade Redden and a pick for an upgrade or Redden and Miles for an downgrade on Redden and an upgrade on Miles.

But you can't trade Thomas, et al as they are not one of your 4 selected keepers.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
