In any Administrative process the rules of Administrative Law apply. To some extent, we are all bound by such a legislative framework. Any body corporate, which includes the AFL, is bound by such a framework. No organisation, including the AFL, can flaunt the rule of Law or ignore it, simply to suit their own agenda. That is why we do have Tribunals and Courts.

While understandably, many on here do not want to engage in litigation, such sentiments do not diminish the legitimacy of the Law. While we may not want to enter into the costly and adversarial world of the Courts, the relevant inquisitorial Tribunal may be an option open to us, which is far less costly.

Id simply suggest if we roll over we're finished.

Would mean weve got no stomach for it and if the club hasnt how do you expect players or supporters to.

its going to be interesting.

Thats my only concern, if we lose those licences were finished.

it sticks out like dogs b...s to me.

The fine can be sorted. Supporters will wipe that.

Even we at Demonland can get some fundraising happening but those licences are the lynch pin.

What i cannot work out is...If Bailey is suspended from the game who was our head coach, this implicates he was part of match fixing.

This must jepordize our gaming licences at the two club venues.

If anybody can assure me those licences are going to be ok i will feel a lot easier.

Otherwise we just have to fight this....

Don McLardy ; Three weeks from now, I will be harvesting my pokie revenue. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line! Stay with me! If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you're appeal has already thown out of the supreme court!

(insert dodgy photoshop gladiator image with Don's head pasted over russel crowe, and our legal teams faces on those his army)

It is indeed hard to think what Bailey could be charged for that is not match fixing. And what if he decides to fight things in court? That may force our hand to join him (which may be the ethical thing to do anyway). To keep us from joining him, we'd need an assurance from the AFL that no matter what arises in Bailey;s court case they would not penalise us further.

Stand Up MFC. Today is it...

Whatever the outcome is, I am completely [censored] by this witch hunt - F*#k the AFL.

I hope we come out bigger and stronger for this and the team shows it where it really matters - on the field!

That's not true.

If we take what will be a verdict that says we have manipulated football matches we will be stigmatised for a while but, unless it affects our licences, we will be able to stagger through this.

The board has a fateful decision to make and I don't envy them but they have all the information and legal advice in front of them.

I hope they make the best decision for the future of the club.

It may be pragmatism or it may be protection.

FFS BH, can you stop asking everyone the same question over and over. You don't even care what other people's opinions are anyway!

You're like a 3 year old with a temper tantrum.

I haven't asked "everyone". I'm only asking one poster.

Look mate, I have to put up with your crap and I tend to remain silent. Do the same for me.

I think we would have to fight WITH Dean if he chooses.

If he wins the AFL Commission will look very stupid.

Dean was employed by us at the time. We have to back him.

You can give it but you can't take it. That's the best synopsis of BH.

My advice to you would be to post a bit less. You oversaturate Demonland and it's why so many are quick to draw on you.

State your opnion, ask some questions when you are GENUINELY interested, but leave it at that.

IF true that we have a case to answer it can only be that we had a meeting where it was actively discussed and enough people in the report have verified that. That would have been the likely info CW took to the AFL and said "what are you going to do about this?"

I hope the names of those squealers are in the report and the club is aware of who they are. I'd like the club to name names before we move fwd from this.

Two ways of looking at this Jnrmac. The masses, and I am probably in tha tcamp, would ask the same question that you asked above.

On the other hand, I'm also in the camp to want to know why they felt the need to squeal. What was so wrong with their treatment at the MFC that would make them feel that this is an appropriate thing to do? Who treated them so badly that they would do this?

I dislike those that squeal, but if they can justify their reasons for doing so (by how they were treated at the Club), then I would like to think the current board will deal with those staff members.

What's the difference?????......I don't think we could afford to win, given the rules in place at the time........I just want to be treated with the same govenence as the rest of the competion......

So I take it you do think we deliberately lost games. So your view is virtually identical to mine, except you differ with your view of the definition.

You've constantly been at odds with my position yet yours isn't any different, save a minor technicality, as I don't think we should be punished either. So much bile and it's basically over nothing.

Sums up the views of many on this thread.

We'll be tagged for ever...not a while...get real..

Like WYL I fail to see how yo can be found guilty here and it not affect our licences. . Even if the AFL and club want to get cute... you can bet ( npi ) the VCGR will see right through a sham.

Take what ? There's nothing you could ever give that I couldn't take.

And I couldn't give a toss who "draws" on me. I'd been trying to get an answer form one poster about one question. I don't need you telling me whether I should be asking it, or not.

I've told you before to not communicate with me, but you can't shut your trap..

and for that matter how will the MCC view a guilty verdict if it is handed down?

This is why i cannot support a rollover.

We are in a fight right now & must keep going if today is not in our favour.

You should cool it a bit Ben or people will think you are an alias of Mathew Newton - LOL

The original press conference was for 11.00am. It was postponed until 2.00pm. Another change of heart?

So the club was trying to win every game in 2009 in your opinion ?

What is your opinion ? Did we try and lose matches in 2009 ? Come on. You can do it.

A question for you. If Connolly, or Bailey don't fight the sanctions what will your view be then ?

My question to you is did the club deliberately try and lose any matches in 2009 ?

So I take it you do think we deliberately lost games.

Just in the last 16 hours, of which I'm guessing you may have slept for a few...

Give it a rest BH.

The definition is the main point.......We all should play under the same rules....Should we not????....You can't just change the rules and investigate one club,be it ours or another....This is why I think we should fight any penalties.....Sometimes you just have to.....

BH, I must say, while for us long suffering supporters, this is clearly and understandably an emotive issue, you have been the most antagonist, intransigent and confrontational on here.

If you don't like the retorts to your posts, just walk away. Would be best for all concerned that you do on this issue.

You should cool it a bit Ben or people will think you are an alias of Mathew Newton - LOL

Or Malcolm Tucker. LOL.

I suggest this is more to the point BB, & if the club fails to show "the spirit of 26", then many may just roll up the swag & move on out.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
