West Coast + Cale Morton = Premiership?

Featured Replies

Just more space wasted.

I dont think he is any bigger - no bicep - with his left hand he is pulling out his singlet which might make him look bigger in the chest than he is.

IMO - his body shape isnt one that will suddenly clap on kilos of muscle over a pre season.

If he is it's very marginal and the WCE have probably had him in the gym everyday since trade.

If he has a break out with the West Coast, good on him. He didn't do anything for us, so the best thing to do was delist.

I'd much rather have an older Byrnes or Rodan keen as mustard to get that ball, some some twig who bricked it everytime he had it.

The problem with players like Morton is not necessarily size or skill, but lack of intensity at the contest.

"The former Melbourne midfielder is understood to have suffered a knee injury late last week and missed the Eagles opening NAB Cup games in Perth last weekend."

don't mince it. he is a classic pea-heart

I thought I was done sh** canning this bloke but I'll give it one more crack.

If you can bothered watching this ~30 min vid, the end is obviously worth it. You will notice every time Cale has it, or is close to having it he stuffs it up... EVERY TIME! Yes it was wet and slippery, but some were just unacceptable... I'm glad he's gone.

Now I'm glad I opened it again.

At least we get our minds away from Tanking & Drugs.

I just know how much you all love talking about CM

Supercoach comments.

Cale Morton (midfield) $305,600

There’ll be a few people tempted by the returning West Aussie, who showed he was capable of posting the odd reasonable score at Melbourne.

But Morton looks set to begin the year a fair way off the Eagles’ best 22 and could take time to work his way in. At this price, he’s not worth the pick-up.

Yours sincerely,
Cales Mum.

Some players thrive in better football teams

why are so many of you so hung up on an ex Demon who most of us thought should have been better and a few thought even better than that

I am far more interested in the players we have on our list than those who are not

Your allowed to be disappointed but isn't it time we all got over it

I have a lump on my foot they call it Morton's Neuroma

That's why his name is uppper most in my mind.

I have called my lump Cale.

It's a lot easier than the medical turn.

Also I think Cale was a lump.

Cale was taken at number 4.

Any chinese astrologist will tell you why it was such a big error.

I've never hated a player till Cale came along .

Oh well.

Fkn took years off my life that kid.

Whoosha was on ABC Perth radio this morning and was asked the question of how McGinnity and Morton would get games?

Said Cale would find it tough and would probably be playing quite a few games in the WAFL.

Be interesting to see Garlett run all over him .

He's obviously left a big impression on Woosha.

Cale is living proof that the Draft can sometimes be a glorified lucky dip. If he went at pick 40 or 50 we wouldn't even be talking about him.

The Draft has major flaws and always will have major flaws. These kids are 17 or 18 when drafted and there is no way you can tell for sure how these draftee's are going to turn out until they reach the age of 21- 23.(sometimes that footy 'maturity' comes at an even later age)

From what we've been told, just about every recruiter in the land had Cale at pick 3 or 4. There is a very good chance that at least 2 of the top 10 picks in the 2012 National Draft will turn out to be below average footballers. And the other 8 won't all be 'A' grader's. Often a 'failed' top 10 pick can be injury related (Luke Molan) The stats don't lie. Go through every draft from 2006 and back, for the evidence.

We didn't make an error in our selection nor did Cale let us or himself down. Cale is what he is. It didn't work out for us and I wish him all the best.

There's always time for more .

As a melbourne supporter ,and given the rules of the CoC ,

It's Cale season .

Your first sentence made me laugh me arse off .

we still owe him .

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
