My point is that bio stats dont tell the whole story, and under the MFC training regime he would probably drop kilos rather than gain them initially.

Dangerfield certainly never played as a power foward.

I dont think anyone is worried he cannot play midfield. or forward, he is just never a small forward. that was the bit which was way off.

We worry because of Cook, Watts, Gysberts, Strauss, Morton ect...

As for Strauss, it's to early to write him off ... if you can you can pick the Beams, Zaharakis, and Hannebery (pick 20's post Strauss) in this years draft I will give you a hail Mary and worship your feet. Then tell you to quit your job and take up a scout/ selector role at MFC. OR do you think they are simply so good because of their development?

Some of us really liked Hannebery and Zaharakis before they were drafted. My brother wrote a long letter to Prendergast imploring him to draft Hannebery. Spotting players that look really likely isn't as difficult as people make out, especially if you go and watch a few games.

Even from just watching the Tac Cup GF I can tell you that Nick Graham is going to be a player. He'll probably be in that pick 25-35 range. He's a tough, strong tackling, straight ahead type that just won the Morrish Medal and reminded my of Steve Wallis (the ex-Dog). He's kicked 40 goals over the last two years in the TAC and 3 goals from the midfield in that GF.

Being injury prone isn't an excuse. It can be bad luck but some players just do not have the awareness to prevent and dodge big hits like others do.

Gysberts has had 3 years already and MFC has had the smallest return for a big investment. Reports have also indicated that he hasn't bought in and does not like the new regime.

I do not think that is writing him off easy, if I took a job and did not perform for 3 years I am pretty sure they would be writing me off.

How long do you suggest we give players after drafting them to start to return the investment? 5 years?

Agree, not sure where he will be picked up. The only knock on him I have is that he likes to ague with the umps a bit much for a kid but it didn't hurt him in the Morrish.

I've only seen some highlights of the TAC cup game and must agree that I liked the look of Graham had a lot of Kieran Jack, Dan Hanneberry about him, also like the forward Membrey smaller version of Jack Darling these two could add a nice bit of hardness to the squad, hope the club targets a few hardnuts, Viney is one and they can be complimented by some other skilled players where we seem in the past to have targetted skilled players at junior level who lose their skills as they step up to the top level

Agree on Membrey as I mentioned earlier in this thread. Ready to go and just "has it". Should be considered for pick 13. Med/ 3rd tall fwd, who kicks goals.

It is a loose call no matter how good someone plays to judge them on one game, Gysberts debuted against the cats with 28 touches i thought he was and still do think he will be a great player but he has found it hard ect

Yes, I agree.

But when one factors his 40 goals from 31 games in the midfield over two years, the 25 possessions per game average this year, the Morish Medal, and then your own eyes then I'm pretty comfortable with it. But yes, you're still right.

It's hard when players have a lot of physical development left to go. Graham doesn't, so I'm happy to make the call.

The "experts" on future stars got this one very wrong. Stewart wasn't nominated as a F/S so the Pies won't even take him with their last pick.

Agree ... if Jack Viney is our Pick 3 (and not 26), then Nick Graham must be our target for pick 26. He has the ability, the toughness, and the competitive streak we need at MFC.
