Apart from the Neeld-Davey-Mifsud error, I liked Thomas on Footy Classified. He had good knowledge from his coaching days and he had a different point of view that he was not afraid to put. Quite often he'd see right through some of the rubbish that went on, particularly from the other media.

Fully agree with this. If the replacement is Lloyd, I won't bother. Thick & monotonous.

Grant Thomas speaks his mind. Whether you like him or not, he made that show, and he wasn't in the AFL's pockets, or vice versa, although I'm sure league bosses didn't like what he had to say.

How do you know it was an error? Was there a defamation case holding Thomas liable? Couldn't you argue that part of the reason behind Davey's season might have had to do with the issue Thomas raised? I don't doubt that Neeld isn't racist and had the best of intentions, but it's not surprising to see an Indigenous player responding with hostility to be treated away from the group. He might have said something jokingly in a spontaneous manner.

Serious question: has Thomas stood by his word on that issue recently?

Don't get me wrong, Lloyd is terrible, and renders the show pretty much impotent, but Thomas was just trying to hard to outdo his surliness every week.

thomas just didn't give a F. And within the context of the "Squeaky Clean" AFL i liked that.

He will be missed.

On SKY news this morning they said he was now the front runner for the Port gig.....???

Hardly likely.

Thomas is not exactly the AFL's poster boy but the AFL makes a sizable contribution to Port's coffers to keep the Power afloat.

I can't see them supporting the appointment of Thomas as coach of this or any other AFL club.

Vlad & the Empire are not always right.

I mean look at Etihad, they couldn't even build it in the correct direction, allowing Port Adelaide into the comp is another howler.

The game needs people like Thomas who will stir the pot at times.

Totally agree about Vlad and the AFL, but I can't help but think that if the same criticisms were coming from someone a bit more level headed they might make a difference.

Fair assumption. But it won't be Lloyd. It amazes me that people like Lloyd, Darcy & David King become the voice of the AFL.

Mark Mclure would be a great replacement for Thomas, he has the same irreverent attitude.

I don't dislike Darcy as much as everyone else, although I work Friday and Saturday nights so I don't get to see much of him, from what I've seen he seems ok when he's just being the straight guy and keeps it simple. King and Lloyd are useless though.

I actually wouldn't mind Cam Mooney. Not the sharpest tool, but is good when playing the role of devil's advocate, ro making the tough calls, or at least someone who's recently been a player or coach so we get some kind of relevant football experience.
