Started supporting the dees in 1953. This has been my 60th year of following them. Couldn't stop now. Sad that.

I Dislike what the AFL has become - they have made a mockery of a great game. But I am cursed to love the dees and I guess I always will.

I moved out of the city at the start of the year and after being unable to attend the first month I then ended up only going to one game for the year. It's the lowest tally of my life as a Demon. I've got two small kids and I just can't watch the shite we served up the last 2 years. I'd prefer to watch the professionals play. If we draft poorly this year and play similar football next year I'll probably go to zero games. If this group of players and coaches plus some quality pick ups over the next few years can't take this club to seriously competing for a Premiership and we slide back into the doldrums I'll probably hang up my hat. Sydney have proved that a well run club doesn't need to finish last before climbing again. I've got much better things to do than watch the club get spanked in an empty stadium on a cold winters day.

My position, FWIW, it that I am a Dee for life but that doesn't mean I'll stick around forever. There will be no other teams, no other codes. But I will not turn up week in/week out to watch garbage. I will not pay my hard-earned if I think the club is being run by monkeys.

I'd argue that all relationships are conditional - my affection for Melbourne is permanent but I'll not stick around if all I get is disappointment and heartache.

I'll never go for another team but I wont go to another game if we play that boundary hugging,fumbling, retarded type of shite we served up in 2012.

There is a tipping point for me and that would be to see the club go back into debt and still be crappy on the field. I would view that as the ultimate slap in the face to Jimmy. That would not mean I would support another team. I would become a neutral observer or follow an NRL team.

I still buy the membershp but I went to 3 games this year I couldn't be bothered.

I backed the rebuild, I held the faith, i sat with the 18k at MCG to see us get up against Freo. Went to all home games that year.

I stomached 3 wins in 2008 and 4 in 2009 I saw the need and felt we had little other option.

2010 I started to believe and I thought good showings against the sworn enemy was the hope beginning to be repaid.

2011 and 186 killed every amount of hope I had. 5 years of misery had been punctuated by insipid filth.

That day I felt like the clear message from the entire club was 'we don't care'.

Since then tragedy and controversy has followed whether it has been the clubs doing or not.

2012 I still paid the membership still brought the merchandise still followed the news and I'm still interested about the club.

But I don't care, I now need proof to care again. I hope it comes.

I'm 46 and could never entertain supporting another club, but sheesh, would struggle with any of those.

There were glimpses but nowhere near enough 'Willo' .

It's a somewhat outdated style that was probably never going to work with our group of players . Not only did our list not have the skill set to keep possession of the ball (via the boundary) it made us look pedestrian like . Often the ball ended up going out of bounds .

Geelong in the main, closed down Collingwood's boundary hugging style in round 8 of 2011 and that should have been the end of it . I just hope Malthouse brings it in at Carlton - they may go backwards if he does .

I noticed the Eagles went wide a fair bit last night - loss and fail . They were not forced wide either , they had a choice . Be daring or play the 'safe' route . They often chose the latter .

Boundary hugging footy should generally be limited from the last line of defence . From half-back , all players should have the big sticks in their sights unless they have no choice but to go wide . Maybe I'm just too old school but I could care less . We need to change tack . It may all come together next season and if so , great . It could all be a confidence thing as well . Having a decent CHF would help enormously .

Why we can't do all the defensive aspects of the game in the corridor ? I see plenty of other teams carry it off quite well . Does tackling , tagging , harassing , 2nd and 3rd efforts , pressure acts , smothering , blocking etc etc need to be confined to vicinity of the boundary line ?

Generally , I'm in agreement with the rest of the direction that the coaching staff has undertaken .

i'm surprised, given you won't get an answer to the "will we ever win a premiership in my lifetime?" question, that you would have a tipping point after all these years. i assume it would be largely off-field matters.

i am an unconditional supporter, but i often wonder if i will lose significant interest if we do win a flag.

The MFC could learn a few things.

I have been barracking for the Dees since 1946. When my father and Uncle returned from the war all the ex servicemen in Kyabram decided to start up a football team for mainly ex service men in the second grade Goulburn Valley league called the Kyabram Imperials and there colours were Red and Blue and the only VFL club to have the same colours was Melbourne and i have followed them ever since and will do so until I die. Although I now live in Brisbane and can't get to the gee any more in the late forties early fifties when living in Melbourne I used to follow them to all the old grounds and can remember all those beaut grand finals we won over that era and I hope tp see at least one more before I die up the mighty Demons

I was born in 93 so I haven't seen a lot of success. I was at the 2000 Grand Final but was very young.

Even though I have no reason to be passionate about the club who has not given me much to be passionate about I still have so much love for this club.

I hope other teens my age that support the Dees have the same amount of passion and love for this club as I do.

I WILL never stop supporting this club especially while they're down, I will be sitting in my usual spot as I have for many years some what cheering on the boys.

I unconditionally support the Melbourne Football Club (a club I've followed for over 50 years) on the condition that they collectively pull their finger out and effing well give me something to cheer about (like a premiership)!!!!!
