Cloke and Collingwood - to part or not to part?

Featured Replies

i hope melbourne does end up with him simply because it would give us one of the most potent fwd lines in the comp with Clark/cloke mauling defenders and Jurrah (provided his trial goes well) and others moving around! with clark and cloke up fwd one of them will get the best defender and that will leave the other to dominate. the only question is, is he really worth what he is asking??? at his best he definitely is, and hopefully he can rid himself of his inconsistency at melbourne. that being said anything is far from materialising and we will all have to wait till seasons end to see whether he stays or goes. But the fact that contract talks were put off till seasons end doesn't sound good for collingwood as history proves!!! couldn't happen to a more deserving team haha

Cloke dislikes Buckley and wants to go to Carlton with MM. This is the general concesus around the AFL traps. Source-Adam Kingsley's (St Kilda assistant coach) dad

Davi Rhys Jones had a lunch with Sticks yesterday and Sticks asked him for his opinion about Cloke. Jones replied with "If he can win you a premiership get him!" Source-David Rhys Jones who I bumped into at the liquor store yesterday

Make of it what you want........

Vague comment - 'if he can win you a premiership?'

What does that mean? Cloke's credentials are there to see. Premiership CHF, can play, power forward.

Sounds like bs to me, no offence.

Not having a go at you, D, it just seems a silly comment to come from someone who calls footy and knows the game.

As in Rhys Jones???

Yep (sorry, I was somewhat ambiguous)

I'm not having you on for a laugh, this is legit! Both things are legit

Your mail is old news its been hotting up for a long time now and we have been in there for months and months, if not longer. :)

This plan was hatched long, long, long ago. Just like a few other little plans we shaw come to a fruition last year - hatched long, long, long ago. B) Its pure poetry in motion.

The theatre of modern football.

In a galaxy far, far away...

Now Adelaide have joined in!!!

So is Eddie just gonna declare war on the entire AFL now???

Hopefully we have a plan B.

Close has been an absolute spud this year, whatever he had a couple of years ago he has totally lost.

Fingers crossed we don't get him as he will be a total liability.

Throw the big dollars at midfielders please, not big gooses like Cloke

Plan A - Get the best midfielder(s) through FA

Plan B - Get Cloke through FA.

If Plan A isn't going to happen, are we allowed to move to Plan B?

I don't know.....is just that I'm very nervous about Cloke...nothing to like about him this year.

Just sayin, I'd rathers throw the dollars at Boak, or Sewell.

Get them both.

Cloke will come for coin - free agency

Boak for coin and Pick 12

Too easy.

The mail is .... Operation Get Cloke is hotting up at the Deez.

I thought it was Operation Malthouse, smokescreen Cloke?

Boak will cost Pick 4. Cloke will not.

Sewell is attainable even if we land Cloke, if we can convince him to come.

...removes the need for a NQR tall (spencer, martin ect) as back up ruck to jamar...

I'd say we'd still play another tall, just as Hawthorn do in Hale. Don't go putting someone like Cloke in the ruck.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
