Training - Wednesday, 4th July, 2012

Briefly;

  • Didn't see Colin Sylvia - only 'unexpected' absentee I noticed;
  • Jamar mainly running laps;
  • Jetta & Davey with main group, looking good;
  • Jones & Jurrah (??) with rehab group mainly doing sprints;
  • Rivers & Sellars not with main group either.  I think they went inside early after practising ball-handling on the boundary;
  • Magner & Couch separated from main group after half the session and were just hand-balling to each other on the boundary;

Bit of goal kicking practice at the end - not very impressive from a lot of the players.

Nicholson's attitude is always impressive in that there is something irrepressible that he brings to the team in training and on the field.  Jones is another who normally doesn't seem to have lost his enjoyment  just being there.  Watts has begun to look more serious and focussed but I suspect it might be because he cops  so much if he looks as if he's having a good time!  He was having a very serious chat with Neeld at the end of training. Good to see as I think they are the two most significant people for the MFC future.

Not the only talent-oozing pick 3 to miss a training session this morning :P

Will be interesting to see if Sellar comes up. Rivers and Garland might both return to defense if he doesn't.

I believe he went for a sleep-over at a mate's place ;-)

I like the Neeld/Watts.

Was Brad Green training with the main group by any chance?

Green was with the main group and trained with enthusiasm as always. While Watts was listening intently to Neeld, Bates was having a similar type of conversation with Neil Craig. Also, I wonder if Rivers is in doubt given that his was seemingly only a light training session this morning. Dave Misson was also doing some one-on-one training/assessment with Cook & Williams (I think that's who they were).

After being a regular at training, the fact that a few don't seem to do much is not an indication, at this stage of the season it is into managing, I have never managed to see the full squad train since the beginning of the preseason

Any scouts watching will have no idea either

Apparently this has been a common occurence for a number of weeks with Cook especially, probably to improve his pace and initial sprint off the mark

    POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast

    Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

    It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

    As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

    OVER YET? by KC from Casey

    The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

    Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
