That's a question we can only speculate on without knowing the dynamics of the playing list, but I'd say that given that the LG is playing group selected and the playing group shunned Sylvia and Moloney, I'd say the young players are not expecting to learn much from them.

Then, if they are not performing on-field, what is their value?

Please explain off field issues for Moloney.....

There was the binge drinking episode last year for a start.

Then there may be things that are not in the public domain and it would be unfair to bring up here if that's the case.

Let's give them some more time under Neeld before they're chopped

We're not trading them mid season, so at least give them a chance to perform

Sylvia had a fractured back, comes back round 5 as sub, and his next game against the cats at KP (which was never going to be an easy game)

Moloney played round 1 when clearly he shouldn't have, he was obviously struggling with injury, misses 2 weeks and comes back in the midst of our horror draw

I just don't think we can be so quick to flush 300 games of experience (and lets be honest, they are both at least good players) when we have so few experienced mature bodies

The binge drinking episode was the biggest load of horsepoop I have ever seen

Firstly, complete lies were told about Moloney pissing on a bar, he was vindicated for this

Honestly, I was furious at the club when they took the VC of him, it was a non issue for mine

And don't imply [censored] like you just have with your second sentence, ludicrous

Paul Roos showed some vision during On The Couch of beamer not adhering to defensive structures at stoppages. Three times he followed the ball selfishly, not paying any respect to his opponent who subsequently got the clearance on each occasion. Considering Mark Neeld is trying to introduce a rigid and defensive game style centred around stoppages, it seems beamer needs to work on his natural tendency to get every clearance himself.

I feel like beamer is the antithesis of Mark Neeld's gameplan. In saying that, he does have a bluey so if he can become more defensively-orientated there should definitely be a future for him in the team.

Bingo.

And a team like Essendon would see his worth as much higher than even we would.

Time to cash in before it is too late.

So I put the same question to you as I did WYF Who do you want/think we would get back from the bombers?????

Garry Lyon on Footy Classified showed McKenzie and Sellar doing the same thing. It's a definite team issue, but Moloney as an experienced senior player should be 'getting it' even more than the others.

I personally didn't like the way the matter was publicly handled, but Moloney himself stared into TV cameras and confessed a binge drinking problem.

Hardly 'horsepoop'.

Getting rid of James Mac and Brad Miller was the biggest mistake we made.

Senior players / leaders are key !! Brad was no star but what he was was a brilliant clubman and set a standard on the track. He would always encourage the younger brigade. Tell me how's our kids development gone this last two years !! Enough said ....

Moloney is and has proven himself B & F and regular season input , Sylvias flash n pan style is starting to lose it 4 me, contrary to the other 97% that don't agree with this in the poll... You wanna know something.... this is not a bad post contrary to others believing it's a ridiculous suggestion to even put u p for discussion. EOY will decide Sylvias fate whilst we need, long term , proven experience not 'Snr Players' that either don't turn up to play, who are injury prone or are seldom brilliant!!

What stuff up? Getting on the [censored]?

If some moron hadn't have rung Eddie on MMM and made up some BS that Beamer had [censored] on the bar, this would've been a non issue

The fact he lost the VC for this was a disgrace and to me it seemed as though to justify losing the VC, the club made him get up and repent his 'sins'

NO. It was still an issue.

This wasn't a PR problem - it was a culture problem.

And it couldn't continue to go on like it was.

If I was working at the club and knew about it, I'd call triple M myself.

Be the catalyst for change.

You assume this was a one-off incident.

It's Time we worked on clearing the decks of the old storm damaged wood.

The top 5 eldest, should be looked at to finish asap, & many would get a good contract elsewhere.

Out of this group of 5, I'd prefer to keep the Russian.

But we do need space in the side Now for players like Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Martin & Spencer to get gametime, as they get ready for opportunities.

Sylvia & Rivers should stay on.

Neeld should have time to work out who fits in with his attitude and game plan.

Beamer may be struggling at this time but so is everyone. Cale Morton is showing the signs we want

Nathan Jones is showing signs of an elite player after being a forum whipping boy for years.

Who knows with Col he's been seriously injured for 6 weeks.

Our team improvement from the horrible Brisbane game to the last few has been exponential.

Remember the calls for blood when Geelong and Sydney were playing purely defensive footy and looking totally inept in the forward line.

Also as an aside I think that if Neeld had been coach at the time Miller and Junior would still be at the club.

In the media fishbowl that footballers live in, I just don't believe his behaviour would go unnoticed / unreported for so long if it was as bad as you are eluding to

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
