No Maurie, what has happened is we have a list of players who are not fit enough and have under performed over the last 5 years, whilst being paid top $$$$. Stop thinking everything just happens with draft picks.

AFL dictate much of the payment structure - plus you have to pay legislated % of salary cap. We have a very well managed salary cap payment structure.

Where did I say 'everything just happens with draft picks'?

Can you deny that Carlton's high draft picks over several years and their bonus priority picks have made a considerable difference to their progress?

Absolutely Maurie. Which is why our FD should have been beefed up straight after the debt demolition. Tanking without a suitable FD was deplorable IMO.

Better late than never I say.

I tell you what though, I am glad I posted this originally before the St Kilda game - I am still adament that the Demons can make 10th this year.

I am planning on coming down from Brisbane to the MCG on Queen's Birthday to watch Melbourne beat Collingwood.

Looks like the 8 is going to be very tight this year - Adelaide, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Fremantle, Geelong, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Richmond, St.Kilda, Sydney, West Coast - 12 into 8 won't go.

Beautiful 12 lists to "raid" instead of 8 - we have the gunpowder to be active at the trade table. This is the year of all years to use it. We need to be identifying talent on our hit list now - geez a another top quality "opposition" analyst with a recruiting back-ground would come in useful. Might take a few dollars but it would be well worth it.

Essendon, North, Richmond and St. Kilda won't make it. 8 goes in to 8 very nicely.

Whoever. "miss" out geez they will be motivated - hope they dont miss by much - hehehehe.

I could see a team with excess 1st round draft picks in this draft become the "lynch-pin" deal maker if there was something in it for them. B)

oh yes an an "excess" Ruckman would not go astray either - you always get top picks for Ruckmen. B)

pft, that will mean winning 10 out of the remaining 17.. and we are a massive chance to lose the next 6 in a row

you must be smoking some pretty good gear there

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
