Once we start filling stadiums irrespective of the "expected" result the quicker we will move to a positions where we can invest an equal amount of $$$$$$$ inside our football department - in effect we will level the playing field.

Then we can fully develop our list by investing in facilities. The "cattle" will no longer be "cattle" they will be high performance thoroughbreds that irrespective where they are picked in the drafting process they can enter our system and perform their required role inside our structures.

Tell me the last time Geelong got the first pick in the draft? Tell me the last time Collingwood got the first pick in the draft. Tell me the last time Hawthorn got the first pick in the draft?

Tell me the last year that Geelong Collingwood or Hawthorn did NOT invest at least $17 million inside their football department?

So can I ask you where have you been in the last 5 years?

Don't forget Geelong have their own "clean" stadium where other club supporters cannot get into. $600,000+ they clear during a home game. That helps. A 7 figure debt that evaporated...Geelong are great but this milenium they have had some lucky breaks. Imagine id the MCG was clean to the MFC!!

This is almost all laughable.

I 100% agree is laughable at the ignorance of many of our supporters. Its so much easier to blame the players, blame the coach, blame the drafting team. Blame whoever you want but bitterly refuse to point the finger at the real cause. "Are we there yet" I dont want to go until we are winning - "Are we there yet"

Carlton Collingwood & Richmond were tribal suburbs as an example.

Neeld is quoted as saying the current mfc facilities are as good or better than Collingwoods

Selecting the right players through the draft is unrelated to FD spending

Revenue through memberships is not the major source of income

Collingwood and Hawthorn have the SAME stadium deal as us. In reality both Collingwood and Hawthorn would argue our deal is better. CS has done an outstanding job ... at long last we have reconstructed our relationship with the MCG . Did Collingwood or Hawthorn get rent assistance? Did Collingwood or Hawthorn get a $1 million dollar financial assistance package?

Geelong set a process in place as CS has done the same process but without "buy in" by ALL our supporters we will never get there. Too much is left to the minority. Thankfully many of the minority do reside around here.

Many, many here are passionate and have bought in - many are still sitting on the fence preferring to promote negativity living in our past VFL. I respect our past but our future is my major focus.

Yes. The ONLY ground I have never been to more than once is Darwin - due to work commitments I've never been able to get to Darwin. I will never forget my first trips to AAMI & Subi. AAMI was 12 hours in the old Ford Cortina - Subi the lady actually asked me - "What is an away membership discount?" The train trip back to where I was staying in Perth was an eye opener for me. I truly for the first time in my life understood the passion the West Australians had for our game - since that day I've welcomed them into the AFL before that I had my doubts. I was the only person on the whole train wearing my then funny red & blue demons scarf. I copped heaps but took it on the chin - after I left the carriage I'm sure I left a few with the thought - "these Melbourne supporters are passionate buggers" - they respect that trust me few on the carriage did not acknowledge me with a wave and a smile.

Now I dont expect every supporter to be like me - hell far from it. But dont knock my team without first quoting the cause. Shivers I couldn't care less if I was the only person at the ground as long as my team gets the chance to play on a level playing field.

Yes. But what that place has evolved into, is maybe Killing Us. In a way we couldn't move away, because we were trapped, we didn't have a supporter base big enough to sustain us elsewhere. But the MCC was strangling Us & sent us packing to the Junction Oval.

Kicked us Off the 'G'. No more training for you boys. No gym. No social club. No anything. Take it or leave it. Go to the Junction.> that way >

Years ago we had won 2 flags, over 30 + Years. We employed a secretary from Richmond, who inturn recommended a Man to Coach us. His name i believe was Hughes. Checker.

We imported the winning spirit that was Not There, in that place. We had to import the Fire & Brimstone... He changed the Name from, Fuscias? > Demons!!!

Maybe made some other adjustments, to I don't remember, Colour of Jumper etc. got us Mean & Nasty. Then he left & another took over for a short while. Then another came up, with Fire in his Hair, & breathing Brimstone from his utterances! He had them in his hands.

When one day came to pass, a smart alec, in the high office summoned him, to Pass. And so, did his 'Robyn', flew like a Blue finch to pastures yonder, North, built a Lair & new hunting pasture. And bred a successful flock.

The moral of the ditty, these people don't know 'up elevator', from down 'dale. Once they take off their Court shoes & put on the slippers, they soften everything that comes near them. Except Money!

But Hunger, Passion, Fire & Brimstone, Desperation has no place in front of the Long Lounge FirePlace.

Yes. Get along like siblings, not a Father/Son arrangement.

It's time to make amends & move into our Own House, then visit, &/or go back Home, for Sunday Roasts!!!

I would love the Idea if we had a Social Venue, H/Q, Training Facility around Elsternwick or East Brighton/Moorabbin area, near the trains and trams.

IMO the amateur ground at Glenhuntly Rd Elsternwick would have been a fantastic Locality for a central place close to fantastic Public Transport... Trams, Buses & 2 Train lines in close Proximity, catering for all Melbourne supporters whether they live on the Frankston line or the D/denong line.

We need a place where supporters can go to watch an away game & have a meal, drink... Or just play the One Arm Bandit, or have a movie night or something. a place to be, & talk all things Demons...

Docklands, too far away... needs to be close to supporters homes.

DC i get what you mean. But the suburb of melbourne in those early days was broken down fractured and then gone. We were always at a disadvantage to the tribal suburbs that still exist today. The MCG was the only constant.

An interesting comment from the West Coast - Adelaide game tonight. The commentators said that Sanderson was fortunate to take over an Adelaide side that had such an excellent fitness base - due to Neil Craig. This meant Sanderson was able to spend much of the pre-season working on structures and game plans.

I don't think Neeld had the same luxury - which explains all the lap work we did before the NAB cup.

Maybe this means we have to be patient and wait for better performances.

Sorry this is wrong and so far from the truth. I will leave it at that. I'm not a negative individual.

I accept that revenue can be derived from many sources. 1 is gate receipts - we have a long bad history in recent AFL football.

You can never have enough money in modern day AFL football. We were falling further & further behind. Hopefully we can address this but it takes us ALL to buy in sadly we dont have enough supporters to only need 50%. If you dont want to "buy in" fine but hopefully some can cut the negative, destructive distracting comments & let Cs and the team get on with the job.

I said the MCC didn't know how to Win. Didn't seemingly know how to be a power.

They/We imported the Huff & Puff Knowhow to Inspire greatness, Hughes.

He handed that spirit onto Smith.

He taught it to Barassi, who took it to Carlton with him.

Smith was sacked, & that as they say is that... Barassi brought it back in the '80's but it needed longer. But he planted the seeds in some there at the time. Who are around abouts, atmo.

My 'gist' is the MCC don't know how to have a successful club under they're umbrella.
