    I'd be surprised and a little disappointed if the Captain was named when 5 minutes ago (AGM) it wasn't going to happen until just before the NAB Cup.

    yeah, my guess is that its just the leadership group today, with the captain to be announced from that group just before the NAB cup

    I agree. Unless the decision has been made and there is concern about it being leaked. Doing it at the AGM would have been clouded by Jim stepping down.

    Yes it may be announced internally to the playing group for structural reasons and that may outweigh the clash of media announcements.
