Macca 17,127 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) Thought it was time to revisit "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" . When 'The Pacific' came out a couple of years ago I decided to watch an episode of each series alternatively . That way you get to experience both the main areas of conflict of WW2 . Worked well too . Two really great series' and well worth a look or indeed a 2nd look . Even better in high definition if you can manage it . Cheers Edited March 13, 2012 by Macca 1 Quote
dee-luded 2,959 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 The best shows are all on the ABC: Wide Open Road The Slap No.1 Ladies Detective Agency Crownies I don't like the modern dramas or sitcoms. I prefer Mash or Cheers & Becker. Stuff like that. Also the news & our planet type doco's. Quote
Jack Jack 415 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I've been watching a few doco's of late. Some interesting viewing. The first was on ABC, The Last of the Independents. It's about a third generation hardware store, Faram Bros., in Port Melbourne. It follows their last few months before closing. King of Kong was last weeks Sunday Best. It's about Billy Mitchell's long standing Donkey Kong record and Steve Weibe's attempts to beat it. I was a bit skeptical that it would be any good, but it was riveting stuff. It was edited to be a good vs evil showdown, and I found myself willing Weibe to success. I was put onto a series about Doomsday Preppers, people preparing for the worst. I hope it never comes to this but who knows? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUKFGzixIg0 Quote
Damo 3,466 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Two good series are Touch (only 2 episodes so far) and Awake. Quote
Jack Jack 415 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Another good doco last week on Sunday Best. American Movie follows a, for want of a better word, eccentric amateur movie maker. The two main characters are larger than life, at times I wondered if it was truly a doco and not some cleverly scripted movie. They also reminded me of Jay & Silent Bob to some degree. Worth a watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7N2Jz1en4w&feature=related Quote

The character development in the show is incredible, unless they f... up the ending, it'll go down as my all time favourite show. There's a break after next weeks episode... boooooooooooooooooo 1 Quote

low flying Robbo 979 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I've built an xbmc PC with all my TV shows and movies to watch. Just need time to actually watch them... At first i hated Modern Family, but just recently i've watched through all episodes and it is hilarious! Also have Game of Thrones, Homeland, Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, and Breaking Bad ready to get stuck into. Community is another great comedy. Also have Family Guy and Seinfeld just for those times when you need to sit down for a quick laugh Quote
Macca 17,127 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) The UK production of 'Inside Men' is a very good, fast paced thriller . 4 parts in series 1 (2012) . Series 2 to be aired next year . http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1989062/ Edited October 21, 2012 by Macca Quote

I paid my respects to the Stones in '95 at the 'G & 2003 at Rod Laver...That said if Mick Taylor & Bill Wyman get up to play it could be gold. Ian Stewart died in '85 so i doubt he will be tinkering the ivories....But you never know it is the Stones. Quote
