$urprise, $urprise, $cully $enior Employed by GW$

Using dollar signs in place of the letter 'S' isn't funny or clever. Just sayin'...

No but it is appropriate

I heard his previous job was as a "Taste tester" at Macca's - got a glowing endorsement and no leftovers !

I am sure he still works there!! His salary is paid into the wife's account for taxation reasons....

I don't care as long as someone lines the dog up in round 13.

He lied all year, lied some more when he got on the plane, and now we find out that his family are liars too

Just heard Anderson on radio say that ALL of $cully Snr wage has been put under the salary cap. Very dodgy situation, should we ask for bigger compensation?

Reckon we should ask for bigger compensation - don't like our chances but we should at least send them a message .

What on earth do you want ? A fifth round pick ?

i doubt he will play. The a$$ett is worth more than 4 points & a stint in intensive care to GW$. But i certainly hope you are right.

Ha ha ! No H_T , just a little bit of noise from our club - ya don't ask , ya don't get !

We asked, we got.

Then we asked Brisbane, asked Clark, and told Freo.

It was a good week.

Precisely his contract details were misrepresented. Compensation picks are given in terms of what a player is paid as well as experience. The MFC were given false information as was the AFL...oh i forgot, they already knew of all this!!

Let it go Nuggets. Asking for compo for Phil Scully, c'mon...it's laughable.

Btw, we've got our two compo picks and we got the same in return as Geelong did for Ablett. We got a pretty good return and hopefully our club makes the most of it.

I agree , nothing wrong with an ambit claim - probably futile but it wouldn't hurt the Club .

And you never know - we might catch Demetriou and Anderson in a compensatory mood !

It's got nothing to do with lucky Phil. It is about misrepresentation of the $$ paid to our ex number 1 draft pick. It is a matter of clarification so these slimy used car salesman at GW$ never consider doing business in this manner again.

The only care factor here is when, in fact was the decision made to go to GWS. Despite denials that is was not done any earlier than the charade of a trip to Sydney to check out the "facilities" I smell a rat.

It is often used in the wrong context, but the word prevaricate comes to mind. Look it up if you're unsure Demonlanders.

That is what is at issue here, nothing else. Young Tom needs to be careful that he is not engulfed in "stage parent" syndrome.

Not necessarily for "Big Phil" - more so the fact that the Club never really knew what it was dealing with - negotiating in a "fixed" situation .

Anyway , I just like to see our club stick up for itself .

Hand wringing on deaf ears.

May I remind that the AFL stated they would literally bend over to make sure GWS succeed. You will always be greeted with from the AFL "we'll do what is necessary in the best interests of the game" ...in other words...we knew it was coming.

Like I said - and you may not like it - asking for compo for a 'recruiter' under the TPP, whilst unprecedented is laughable.

What do you expect as compo / something reasonable in return then ? Whatever the answer it is, it will be deemed a joke by the industry, considering his recruiting job is alleged to amount to $200K per year.

I think we have.

We dealt with the loss by signing a 200cm 23 year old forward...

Yes. Tom is a mere pawn in the larger family, that's the view right now. His part of the deal was to play good footy in 2010. He did this, so his value in the marketplace peaked. 2011 was merely survival before the jump. The jumper he wore was of small consequence to the family or management.

I think we have.

We dealt with the loss by signing a 200cm 23 year old who is neither a ruckman nor a forward...

Fixed! :P

I don't expect anything except full clarification from the law makers HT. I know we won't get anymore compo BUT by the letter of the laws set down by the AFL we are infact entitled to it.

Fixed! :P

We will see.

I think he will look at lot better than many do as our 'power forward.'

You say you don't expect anything but "full clarification from the law makers".....yet...... you then say "by the letter of the laws set down by the AFL (law makers) we are in fact entitled to it"

?

Hmmm.

What next..they'll probably get the Mum and Sis selling Pies n Fries for a mere telephone number like salary soon.

You have to be worried putting the weight of so much upon such young shoulders ( let alone the knees )

Be enough to drive one to drink

I've heard that $cully Snr is having 6 weeks off next May as he will be entitled to Long Service Leave by then.

I'm not so sure. It's the AFL who have forced GWS to include Lucky Phil's salary under their salary cap. They don't seem at all happy with GWS.

You get a feeling that this has a sort of stench that even Vlad is uncomfortable about. Yeh OK, that probably makes him more likely to want to brush it under the carpet. But you don't get the sense that the AFL are going to come out and back GWS to the hilt like they did with the original $cully deal. And GWS seem to have ducked for cover too - the AFL seems to want them to keep their mouth shut.

Put it this way - when the $cully deal was announced, both the AFL and GWS felt confident enough to eyeball us and dare us to take them on - "that's business, so suck it up!" But there's not the same sort of arrogant crowing about Lucky Phil - there's more a feeling of furtiveness about it, like they can't look us straight in the eye.

One might have thought that Vlad & cohorts might have read Mary Shelley before they had embarked upon their latest adventure !!!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
