Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where are the holes in our list?

Will he ever have a 16 game season?

My problem is he is only ever up for 5-6 games a year.

2012 had better be a good one if he is kept.

The MFC cannot go on forever giving a spot to someone who is hardly ever available.

I was going to make mention of the similarity to Grimes old dee, but see that rpfc has taken you to tsk on that :) What I will say though is that I agree with you that Grimes is more consistent when on the park, but I think there is a big difference 1. Due to position 2. Due to pedigree. By pedigree (and I've sprouted this thought before about LJ) I mean that indigenous guys like LJ and Wonna have grown up as instinct footballers playing largely untrained on talent alone, whereas a player like Grimes may have the instinct and talent, but has been highly trained through his whole life. This to me says that a player like Wonna will do what he has done for a bit longer and have standout games surrounded by average games. When Wonna is up, he is absolutely smashing, and I reckon he is well worth another year to try and get his body right.

Who do you think is the most important Crackers? I think in a couple of years we will have a few more players ahead of Aussie, but when I watch games that he plays, he adds so much to the team, but then when he is not playing, it's those areas that we get smashed in. I also feel that Jurrah plays a lot more consistent, 4 quarter games when Aussie is around, and we all know how much the team benefits from that!

I know it was a huge call, and didn't expect any supporters.

Nb. The most important player doesn't always equal the best on our list.

I wouldn't go as far as to say most important, but I do absolutely agree that when he is playing he adds to the team. And, might I add, when he is on he grabs the team by the scruff of the neck and drags them to victory, ala Freo comeback :)

We need to give Newton another shot, he is one of the most naturally gifted footballers I have seen and could easily kick 50 - 60 goals next year if we gave him a chance

WOW, way to make friends (VERY FEW) and alienate people (MANY) with your first post. Welcome to the madhouse. As for Newton, no thanks.

I thought another way to look at where the holes on our list are, would be to compare our players against the Collingwood premiership model (something Neelds very familar with)

Tarrant – Rivers, Doesn’t present the same "one on one" option

Maxwell – Frawley can easily fill the same role

Obrien - Green could play a similar role by providing the height, and footskills and perhaps the dash

Shaw - Bail could provide the run of shaw

Reid- Garland can easily fill the same role

Davis – Davey if fit and in form, would provide the creativity of a Davis, Yarran, Suckling

Wellingham - Petterd could play the tall competitive midfielder, that can kick goals

Ball – Mckenzie provides the same in and under no frills game

Beams – Gysberts could be our accumulator

Blair – Tapscott is tough and uncompromising, can he be a goal kicker

Dawes- Watts to play a Nick Reiwoldt role (as we have no one to play a Dawes role)

Sidebottom – Sylvia can kick goals and help the midfield

Thomas – Howe could be our flashy forward with ground skills

Cloak – Jurrah to play a Lance Franklin role (as we have no one to play Cloaks role)

Krakouer – Wonnaemirri when fit is our crumbing forward

Jolly – Jamar can easily fill the same role

Pendlebury – Trengrove to develop into our strong marking midfielder

Swan – Jones can be our in the guts accumulator, who runs all day

Brown – Martin can easily fill the same role

Didak – Dunn can kick goals and apply pressure (Didak is out of form, and not a role to replicate)

Goldsack Grimes easily fill the same role (and provides more options)

Johnson – Moloney can play a similar role but needs to be more defensive

Fasolo - Blease to provide the run, he may not be the crumbing option

Just to mention, those comparing the plights of Wonna and Grimes should note the essential difference in problems. Whilst both have niggling injuries its more Wonna state of being that will either allow or disallow his continuing in the game. If his heads not in the right place his career wil lcome to an untimely end.

I applaud teh Clubs willingness to bridge these times but at some point it becomes a problemfor him and not so much the club. This may sound harsh to some but we are a footy club not a welfare provider.

I do wish Wonna a speedy resolution and wish him well in which direction he takes.

Grimes is purely a fitness/injury issue and I for one want to se him back on the paddock tearing it up as soon as he can.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
