Malthouse won't be at Collingwood in 2012

There will be two pictures of things going forward.

Reality...this happening behind closed doors and shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!

And the media creation , based on anything that looks halfway printable.

Mick will concentrate on the job at hand. His management will concentrate on his future.

There is no harm or foul in Micks people talking to anyone. Its a free world ( if you can afford it..lol )

Yup - just depends if Mick worries about Eddies saber rattling which i would think not

I dont think Mick really worries about a whole lot ...do you ? ;)

nope - not a damn thing

Malthouse won't sit out the year. When you are out of footy you quickly become irrelevant and outdated. He won't do it to himself.

I also think that a big part of Collingwood wants him gone, to wipe the slate clean to avoid issues with Buckley and instability within the footy department.

It would not surprise me if Malthouse is at Melbourne next year. He wants to coach and he should be allowed to coach. It was Collingwood's choice to let him go, so he should be able to move on and coach elsewhere.

Malthouse has stated that he will not coach next year and I think he's pretty damned certain about it.

Joining another club is different and this is where the difference will be. He'll be somewhere but not with the filth.

circumstances change !!!

he wasnt lying at the time..( maybe )

hes entitled to change his mind.

Its all football doublespeak..lol

That's what I thought when Hird said something along those lines last year On the Couch, repeatedly.

Mick is loving being the snr coach of the Pies at the moment. He's a coach. He'll say whatever is required to ensure the performance of his players and his team is not compromised. Even lie through his teeth. He gives the same sacrifice and strength to his team that he demands from his players. That's what makes him a great coach.

I hope my imaginary crystal ball is correct.

MM leaves Collingwood to become Melbourne's, let's call it........."Football Adviser". Damn, call it anything but 'coach or 'football director'.

As this is a new position, the MFC are more than happy for the FA to contribute to training sessions and game day decisions. After all they are an 'adviser' of everything football. They should be in the coaches box, they're part of the football department.

Eddie can huff and puff all he likes because MM IS NOT COACHING. Therefore he is not going against his promise. Our Head Coach is Viney and MM is merely a sounding board his ideas.

I love my crystal ball.

You're comparing apples with oranges there HT.

Not really KIL . They all say one thing and do another . GL was NEVER going to be involved picking. a coach ! Guess what !! lol

One week at a time 

MM has been coaching for 20 years straight.

I think he'll be having a year off next year.

Just my opinion but MM will b coach at tiggers and nowhere else.

A friend of mine Is mikes nephew and tells me he's never wrong about these things and wouldn't put his reputation on the line unless he knew something. Which means two things, scully is gone, and malthouse will not be at collingwood next year.

Don't want Mick if he cant commit to us from next season.

I see no point in waiting for a coach to sit 12 months out.

I have a feeling that after this season he wont coach again.

I think once again well be caught on the hop and be the last to

have a coach appointed and we will scrape the bottom of the barrel.

The Last big fish we landed there were still dinosaurs.

Queens Birthday 2012 will be a sell out....

It will now become a big game for Collingwood, not just another Game.

Malthouse v Buckley..Bring it on.

Stuff waiting a year, we have all waited for long enough...Get Him.B)

When this was announced 2 years ago people knew it wouldnt work but then they managed to win a premiership and not much was said. Now its getting closer and now its being talked about.

The thing is Mick isnt a coaching director. Its not what he ever wanted to be. Sernior coaching is what he is good at. Also can you imagine Eddie coming to you saying that you will coach for the next 2 years then Nathan will take over. How does that sound. Of course Mick says yes. Can you imagine Mick saying no to that to Eddies face.

Also its funny how we havent heard Nthan come out and actually say he wants Mick there next year.

Mick loves being Bowed and Scraped to. that is why he won't like being the backroom power broker.. He wants the accolades for himSelf.

Small man syndrome

His gamestyle he's trying to implement& take further with extra, Not less interchange players suits the 'SuperCoach' , napoleonic syndrome.

It means he can play supermanager with a list full of NoNames moving from 'role to role'..... SELF!

It means the end of True Fullforwards, and The end of the slow but Dynamic Mid, like a Diesle Williams.... Incredibly with the reduction of 1 interchange, early in the season we started to see the resemblance of longer kicks, and some high marks returning. But nowhere near as many as we once did.

The Hawks game model is much better, and more inspiring. They just don't have a high flyer or 2.

I agree with you pipefitter, and the smoke seems to be wafting that direction, but what isn't totally clear is whether he'd be a footy director with Us or Carlton?

Eddie would start laying Eggs, If Carlton nabbed him for next season, whilst they're (Pies) still in their 'Open Window'.

I recall listening to 6PR Perth in 1999 when George GRJLUSICH and Karl LANGDON broke the news about a secret meeting Mick had with Eddie and he was going to be the Collingwood coach next year. Mick was in for his weekly segment and you could almost hear the steam coming out of his ears as he vehemently denied there was anything untoward with the meeting and as far as he was concerned he was contracted to coach West Coast in 2000 and that was the end of the issue. This all seems to be history repeating itself

You have really got it in for Mick Malthouse haven't you...

And that just might be the case but he's been in the coaching game for another twelve years since then. Coupled with a few family issues that have added extra stress I can see him taking a year off, but I could be wrong.

Wouldn't have been like George stirring the shite up with anyone. God rest his soul.

ok Mick cant coach next year but any chance that he could be head of coaching same job as what collingwood have offered.

with viney our coach next year with Mick pulling all the strings then to take over as head coach at the end of next year ?

as they have said he will not be coaching any where next year.

he wants out at years end or so is said.

a year out of football is a long time with how quick the game can pass you bye

and said he would love to coach MELBOURNE

I think he will coach Melbourne next year....Talk can be cheap compared to Wads of real Cash, & i think the MFC is ready to spend..

The Supporters haven't cleared a large debt for nothing.

we own the afl get real you are the reason every one hates the pies the lot of them are as one eyed and dumb as each other

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
