Greetings from Havana I was hoping to catch up with Hemingway but can't find him. I have been to all his old drinking holes but no sign of him. Otherwise the weather is very balmy and the rum is flowing freely in between my official engagements of course.

does havana remind you of fitzroy, earl?

Earl I am told he spends this time of the year in Key West!

Earl, hope you've kept up your membership of the knights hospitallers. It should still open plenty of doors for you in havana

Gee, it's quiet around here lately.

Where is our old mate, Jazza?

How nice to hear from you Earl. I trust you are exploiting another 3rd world economy for personal gain.

Do you intend arranging some of those 357 visas to get some decent (and cheap) help?

Nice one Earl.

Hope you are Havana good time.

Worst pun ever!!!!

I nearly apologised for it but then I thought-nah,,,f&*k 'em.

I am with you in spirit Earl. However when you have been lying around for as long as have its hard to become energised. It's all changed so much that I am sure I would not recognise my old haunts. My old flames are also the worse for wear. it's depressing to think that Cuba is now being viewed as a market by the imperial powers and its old foe is now seeking to exploit it shamelessly. I would love to go back to my old Cuba but alas it has gone. Never go back is my motto. The memories are all that matter.

I have it from a reliable source (Chris Judd's grandmother) that BBO has another month holiday from Land. Thank god for that! His mindless drivel, crass humour and down right slovenly ways are a blight on this fine forum. I put it to the mods that upon his ungrateful return, he be given the all time mother of jolly good floggings, preferably delivered by special robert or enyaw.

What has he done this time?

How curious. On the mobile skin

When someone  quotes another you see the quote but not it's  author.

seeing as how demonland was unavailable to all for a day, will uncle bitters get an extra day added to his sentence?

just curious

p.s. why the automatic double spacing? isn't down sizing all the rage?

Are you certain?

Next year happens to be a leap year.

No WJ, I'm not certain. Just a wild guess for amusement.

Ernest I could have sworn we were together in spirits, gallons of them,  the other night at the Hotel Ambos Mundos. I know I had had a few too many Cuban Libre's but I was sure it was you.

While Fidel lives the Revolucion continues! But not after he goes I agree. I am here on assignment with only the best interests of Cuba as my guiding principle of course. Tomorrow I head west toward the mountains with my brother in law who owns a vacuum cleaner franchise in Havana. I am not sure why but he has been acting rather odd lately, we are going to be looking for installations or something in the jungles apparently? Thought with your knowledge you might have some idea what is going on.

Don't drink the whiskey! And don't put your thumb over the lens when you're photographing the list of spies.

Earl you are a man after my own heart. An adventurer who will experience Cuba to the full.  You sound like a wise worldly man but be careful. I found in Cuba that your friends could also become your enemies. I woke up many mornings after a big night grateful to be alive, relieved that my throat had not been slashed. The mention of mountains and installations has me worried though. Be careful Earl, be very careful. Please keep us posted.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
