We may indeed be alone... even MW derides us, despite preserving the original meaning!

Informative but glossed over the median usage (re percentage) in between the Romans and today with only a brief mention of tithing!  It's a bit like literally and figuratively, with literally now having a common usage of which figuratively used to have the sole domain.  Sure we can live with the evolution of language, but I'll remain twitchy!  Precision of meaning can be vital for productive communication and consensus buil--!!  *DP is pulled off-stage by a hook*

“There’re” is the correct contraction, DP. You rarely see it used, though.

Oh I know the correct contraction, WCW!  Just fear language is evolving to treat the singular contraction as applicable to the plural (and even have been found guilty of doing so while speaking myself from time to time 😳)

There is a good reason for it, no?

Yes. It's been worrying me recently since I notice myself doing it. I think it happens because we begin speaking before we know exactly where the sentence is heading or before we realise our subject will be plural. I think a millisecond's thought should prevent it. Can we manage that?

'Deride' is harsh on us, DP. I feel it presents us as worthy of 'ovation', at least. 'Missiles', too, though unclear as to where along its ('their'?😄) evolution!

Exit, stage right.

Our victory may be less important than a triumph (and of vanishingly small odds that we actually achieve it), but maybe we can secure some missiles of the Roman meaning if we resort to using some missiles of the contemporary meaning!

I'm fairly sure Autocorrect overwrote your self-deprecating 'single', DP.

Or are you boasting?

Let's say boasting even if that is a stretch, as Layzie says...

But yes, singular in the sense of lone in the sense of single, to over-analyse and "hyperbolate" the auto-correct!

My rule is never let auto-correct take credit for anything, even when it deserves it!

I don't think the appreciators ( is that a word?) of banana delicacies in this thread, had noticed a certain lady had thrown a BANANA milkshake at Nigel Farage last week.

Only Fans model reveals she spent 8 HOURS in a police cell after throwing McDonald's banana milkshake over Nigel Farage | The Sun

Is this sacrilege @Redleg?

Or is it because McDonalds can't do a banana milkshake properly?

It also appears from her social media photos she may be a Demon supporter?

Lets be fair...McDonalds can't do a lot of things properly  ( but their Cappos are ok )

That demented woman obviously should never have been allowed that milkshake if all she was to do with it was waste it...  quelle horreur

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
