Just watched the clip - ridiculously funny - and I've already managed to get a hold of the movie ( tomorrow ) - ah what a quick world we live in !

Btw - what is this particular thread about anyway ? Hope I haven't hijacked it ! I'm "Johnny-new-boy" - don't wanna get banned too quickly !

Don't you love the internet....Watch it a few times....it's all dialogue and body language...i still see things in it now after maybe 30 watches.

The Other Cracker from that period is "Performance" with Mick Jagger. 1968..with James Fox & real Gangster.....

I'll check "Performance" out as well - good reviews btw

Always been a fan of off-beat humour - The Party , Evil Roy Slade and The Big Labowski are one's that I'd recommend .

The key to this particular thread is what it's not about!. Normally I'd suggest that reading the title would be helpful, but that's been changed umpteen times.

Evil Roy Slade & The Dude are heroes of mine...I think we need to organize some film nights!

Great movie from that era was Blow-up starring David Hemmings and Vanessa Redgrave.

Also featured a rare performance of The Yardbirds with both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. The latter left the band a few months after the movie was made.

Spot on....I found a very clean copy on the net not long ago....Based on David Bailey....Loosely

Well, here are a few I could mention:

The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer (with Peter Cook)

The Bedsitting Room (featured just about every British comedian imaginable)

Bedazzled (the original with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore)

Dr Strangelove (of course)

Wow, that brings back some memories. I remember a 1967 concert at Festival Hall featuring the Yardbirds (For Your Love), the Big O (Crying ... 3 curtain calls) and the Walker Brothers (The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore) all on the same card. Sensational!

Not to mention Over Under Sideways Down, Shapes of Things and Heart Full of Soul. Used to play in a band in my teens and we played and I sang these songs. Ah memories.

I was singing Over, Under, Sideways Down in a band here in Sydney in the early 80's :-)

Yeah, just listened to a few of those on YouTube and the nostalgia came flooding back. If we continue this 'off-season trip down memory lane' it won't be long before we pass the 1000 mark ...... without one iota of angst.

Bedazzled is brilliant and Strangelove is an all time classic - I'll no doubt find the other 2 - Ta !

We are in the same ball park here. The rise and rise of michael rimmer with arthur lowe is golden. And the bed sitting room with capt. peacok from "are you being served" as "the BBC!!" superb....

You'll no doubt know about this one "Wyl" but for others - "Burn After Reading" ( Another Coen Bros ) - found it funnier the 2nd time around !

Haven't seen it!! But yes i love the Coen boys work. Let us not forget either the Lindsay Anderson trilogy with Malcolm McDowell. "If" "O Lucky Man" & "Britannia Hospital" just superb, all 3.

Just changing tack a little, what do people think about ex-bananabender Mitch Clark's haircut? To me, he's trying too hard to look 60s Merseyside whereas I prefer his punk look myself.

Attended the Cox Plate and privileged to see a fair filly called Black Caviar. Never seen that many in the stands for any race there other than the Cox Plate. When she won the noise was deafening. Ran into the Governor of Victoria who not only was at the Bar with me but lectured me in Equity in my student days. He said he remembered from both, think he was just being polite. Spoke to the owner of Americain the Moonee Valley Cup winner and last years Melbourne Cup winner who told that the horse wasn't even fully fit. He was impressive and when fully fit could make it back to back Melbourne Cups. Manawanui looks to have a mortgage on the Derby next week. Great day.

Not that I want to start any of the boys gambling, but Jack Watts is the celebrity tipster in the Sun and is doing really well. He tipped a winner again in the Moonee Valley Cup winner and is killing the opposition.

Don't tell Daniel Ward, the Ox or Trapper will ya!!!

I just went on a massive walk around my hood and returned home to discover my top was on backwards.

Sunday morning...Coming down...

Great lyrics, so well suited to Johnny Cash's gravelly voice.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
