Is that 'Well on the way' or 'Well, on the way'?

May not affect me as much as previously might have, as my latest diet doesn’t recommend Banana smoothies.

I’ve also jettisoned bananas from my diet, Red. But not for weight loss reasons. I have it on good authority that mozzies won’t feast on one if one refrains from eating bananas. I’ve not indulged for over a week, yet last night I was a 20-course degustation for the [censored]ers just while putting my wheelie bin out. So my good authority may not be as good as I thought.

I think the mozzies put that out there, to lull the unsuspecting into a position where they can be voraciously attacked.

A tip for you, heat a spoon in boiling water and place on bites, as warm as you can bear the spoon and it will destroy the mozzie fluid injected in their bites.

I’ve not heard this tip before.

I’ll try this tonight. If it doesn’t work, you’ll be immediately added to my list of ppl who give sh!tt advice. But if it does work… thank you!

A mosquito's main methods of detecting and approaching suitable prey include body heat and also, surprisingly, carbon dioxide emissions from breathing.

The obvious solution is to wear a full wetsuit and use snorkel. You'll be in 'Dutch vs the Predator' final battle mode.

A bit inconvenient for most of us but Uncle Bitters can just grab his usual saturday evening finest.

I'm not certain what the mozzies would make of my skin tight figure enhancing latex Goffy.

are you suggesting wcw should......

a. paint herself in black and white zebra stripes?

   or

b. she is a cow?

I guess logically it goes "if B then A."

Maybe crazy stripes just deter bitey things? There was a fashion in surfing for a while to add all kinds of stripes on boards and wetsuits as a way to confuse sharks.

Then there's all those interwar-era navies that gave it a try, presumably to deter giant octopuses. Octopi. Giantopuses.

I wouldn’t be seen dead in black and white stripes! Nor am I a cow!

However, I bought something that I’ve yet to try but really don’t hold much hope of them working …  mosquito patches. They’re like nicotine patches except they adhere to your clothing and not to your skin, and they don’t help you give up smoking. 😁

I will use one of these patches tomorrow at feeding frenzy time and report my findings here.

You're all welcome.

Just jumping in, as I do periodically, to send you stalwarts on this thread** a big, catching-up 😆. Too many posts to react to individually!

**Not actually so many of you, and I'm guessing you'll all read this 🙂

I'm barracking for the mozzies!

please suggesting that someone who posts on here should don black and white stripes, Are you suggesting they are covert colling cough cough wood closet supporters, I know its a bit rough round the edges here but, that is the height of political incorrectness.

you should apologise, noone on here is that bad, surely

maybe on your 21st birthday, you could have done it, but once you are all old and grown,    just ask for forgiveness and hate the bstards

I do hope that the Grundy situation bites those guys on the [censored] this year,  Go Dees

Apparently if you have a lethal dose of vitamin b the mozzies dont bite. Anyway you wont feel it.

Shows a poor upbringing perhaps but maturity brings sense.  Or so I am told perhaps it will still happen

Au contraire 640! It shows an undying devotion to the mighty Dees. Do you realise how hard it is to silently barrack for our beloved Dees whilst wearing your Bruce 11 Doull duffel coat?!?!

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
