Apples and bananas dc! Try comparing pumpkins (or, as the more rurally challenged might say punkins) and golf balls! I've spent the best part of today doing just that.

Poor old Bitter is a tad cash strapped at the moment so the notion of changing gas and electricity suppliers held some appeal.

I've spoken to a variety of people with a variety of accents and it seems impossible to get a direct answer about what said services will cost. Good Lord, I even resorted to studying things called websites.

There is no standardisation in how deals are framed. Even my good self who can claim to be at least moderately literate and numerate is left flummoxed.

If you crave a little self flagellation, don't bother dusting off the whip, just start researching energy costs

And ... just to top a shitty day off - there is a suggestion that the tax on vino is heading towards the stratosphere

FMD again.

Goon!

Goon is forbidden at The Manor dc ( well unless I'm very short of the ready)

Biffen, however, considers it the ultimate accompaniment to a fine meal of baked beans.

Whereas you, Uncle, would rather a CC and dry with a lime twist over ice with your baked beans?

Mrs Frog loves her CC and Dry, but it can only be in a glass container.

Bet it's getting retold by Demonlanders as we speak. Comedy gold Uncle! No denying it.

Well fellow illuminati, I'm sure you will all agree there is nothing like some intellectual stimulation while slurping down the Saturday morning chocolate filled maple syrup bathed and bacon wrapped croissants.

May I refer you to today's Age and an article titled - "Men- only day spas the new gentleman's club". The article focusses on a New York clinic that specialises in various medical and beauty treatments for blokes - no sheilas allowed.

"Non invasive penile enlargement" is available for a mere $6000 but there is a catch - it only lasts 2 years.

In what I thought was an interesting juxtaposition, "anal tightening procedures" are also on the menu. There is a "laser treatment" option for this.

In a country that carries the death sentence for drug trafficking this has to rate as a way out means of marriage proposal:

IPOH: This Christmas Eve would be unforgettable for 20-year-old administrator Yew Kar Yee after she saw the love of her life hauled away by auxiliary police personnel for the possession of an illegal substance at the Sultan Azlan Shah airport.

But that is not the reason why it is particularly memorable.

She was overwhelmed with relief and happiness when she learned that it was all just a staged act, planned by her sweetheart Cheung Chan Choon, 30, who popped the big question to her.

Merry Christmas guys from the Equator

Important article in Fairfax press by a girl who does't like fruit peel in her Christmas Cake.

The Age once again dealing with the real news.

And the ever charming Clementine Ford wrote a gem about being lonely at Christmas (is it any wonder).

Can we blame Uncle for this as well?

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
