The Coburg Tigers vs. Casey Scorpions Reserve Grade match remains the curtain raiser commencing at 11:00 AM.

Hmm... Bennell and Blease named. It's confusing to think what we should take out of it - Bennell dropped? Blease just given continuity?

I reckon both those names would have been first on the list to be dropped if there were players that HAD to be moved up. Maric/Bate/Tappy for example.

Aaaah. Never mind. Forgot there's no red and blue this weekend momentarily. Blease getting a good 4 quarters in would be good. Bennell needs to be dropped for the weekend after next though.

I'd take out of it that Melbourne have a bye this week, and the players who need the run and are eligible for one will get one. It means stuff all in the context of who will be playing next week.

Presumably when MFC have a bye, there's some rules (or at the very least, a gentlemen's agreement) about which players are eligible to line up for Casey. Much like when Casey are playing finals after the MFC season has finished.

It means that both need the work and that both are fighting for the space. Tapscott will go in you would think. Bennell was disappointing against the dogs. Blease needs game time. Let the cream rise to the top.

No Cameron Bruce for the Hawks - I'm disappointed. He was supposed to be back this week.

I saw him on the TV tonight with the Hawk party off to Tassie today!

There should be 3 spots for the following players in Darwin: Macdonald (depending on fitness), Morton, Blease, Bennell, Bartram, Tapscott

Old fashion playoff for selection.

I'm going for Macdonald (recover from injury), Tapscott and Bennell.

The following tweet from Craig Lees of the MFC suggests that Robert Campbell will be playing in the Casey Reserves tomorrow:-

Casey V Box Hill tomorrow. Reserves 11am seniors 2pm @ casey fields. Reserves will have 3 dees playing, the seniors 14. Get along!

Very much consistent with the youth push at Melbourne.

Does a Melbourne membership gain free entry to Casey games?

Does a Melbourne membership gain free entry to Casey games?

It does. However, please note that when memberships were issued this year, members should have received a Casey Scorpions membership ticket.

You should take this with you to guarantee free admission although I've noticed that the people at the gate are very nice and helpful :) so bring your MFC ticket along if you don't have a Casey ticket.

It's absolutely blowing a gale in Cranny. The Scorps have been exposed to this sort of weather every time they've come out to play in the last five or six weeks!

Forget the wind. It's absolutely persistently pouring down here at the moment.

Reminiscent of the day last year when Lynden Dunn kicked a bag against Box Hill last year.

The Ressies had a big win against one of the leading teams:

Weather getting worse.

Bater kicks first goal after a footrace in the wet. He lost the race but his opponent slid across the ground and the big redhead snapped truly.

1.1.7 to 0.0.0 after 14 minutes.

Bate playing well in the wet. The sky is falling. Hope some of the others are playing well as well. Tapscott for one.

Is there a breeze favouring one end? (ie the end Casey had in the first)

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
