I reckon hes a good field kick as in hitting up a target. We have bigger things to worry about than Marric .

He has no game above his head and this is a liability. Seems nervous to look up at the flight of an oncoming ball. Runs very 'close to the ground' but usually back and away from the opposition, then kicks off balance. He may make it, but to me he is too limited.

you guys dont think the lack of work rate could have something to do with darwin? still being a young player and not that much afl fitness (vfl isnt as fast and you dont have to work as hard) maybe Maric (and some other players) just were a bit cooked.

No Scarlo, Addam's work rate has been 'average' throughout his career. IMO, that's why he hasn't been able to nail a regular spot in our best 22. I had high hopes that 2011 would be his 'breakout year' after what was reported to be a stellar pre-season. Unfortunately, all we have got is more of the same.

I doubt if they will do it - possibly, maybe, one of them but not they the plural IMVHO.

Also IMVHO Jetta applies more defensive pressure so he is ahead of Addam at this stage.

Need more though.

Maric has played 20 games in 4 years which I find amazing as I would have thought around 10.

Has had no continuity in his opportunities which would surely impact on a young mans confidence

and ability to show his wares.

I too see chinks in this kids armour such as his lack of forwardline pressure and attack on the ball,

but perhaps this stems from the lack of role models in this area to follow within our side.

I think Maric looks like he has some real fire in the belly but perhaps just doesn't know how to go

about applying it at this level. His skills are OK and will improve with more exposure to

the pressure and intensity amongst the big boys. He is certainly not the worst on the list and

is worth another chance next year.

The criticism leveled at Maric on here is a bit disappointing given his lack of opportunities and his tendacy

to be the fall guy after losses (and sometimes wins). He needs the rest of the year at AFL level to gain

some momentum and hopefully justify his spot on the list.

well i watched maric pull out of a contest yesterday to keep his feet. the ball was low and he coud have dived for a mark. instead he kept his feet,he lost the ball and it went down the other end for a goal. how about he put his body on the line each and everytime he goes near the ball and that would be a start.

No. It's something that has been commonplace in Maric's game. Lack of work rate, slow running, laziness, it's been there for his entire career.

He hasn't been in more because he doesn't work hard enough, not because of his kicking per se', thats more to do with low composure... He still needs to feel more at home for this to improve, but that comes from showing more courage itself, so he's in his own vicious circle, & the only wau out is to fight your way out.

Just like Wattsy is doing this year. Taking on his fears front on in the ring and on the footy field. He's having a crack.

Agreed, and Jetta has stepped ahead of bennell atmo with the courage stakes and his games improving. He needs a bigger tank to step it up further. Same with Adam but Jetta has more 'have a go' attitude, & thats a winning formula.

I think your observation is right, but also he seems a quiet shy type outwardly and @ games & training. This compounds the issue of gaining confidence and good mentors would be very useful. Junior again would be perfect.

The second thing I learnt is that he only runs fast when he has the ball. And unless he learns to sprint defensively, he's going nowhere.

Agree with the second point though. If that pace is in there, it never, ever, comes out when he doesn't have the ball. At times he was walking to position. Pathetic.

From what I have seen, Addam doesn't seem to have genuine pace, acceleration, contested marking, rat cunning or mongrel which set the best small forwards apart from the rest (players such as Betts, Garlett and Milne all have at least some of these qualities). Unfortunately, IMO Addam is an ok footballer without any special qualities which make me think he is going to make it. To his credit, he seems to be working much harder this year, but I'm not convinced that he has what it takes to earn a regular spot in our best 22.

Having said that, I live in Canberra and have only seen one Casey game this year. Maybe he is showing more in the VFL than what he has shown in his limited opportunities for the Dees.

That can only mean confidence in the physicality of the game. To have a 'go'.

He needs someone like Malthouse to sort him out. Will make it or break in quicktime with him around. Is not going to get the right kind of direction(either up or out) with our current coaching.
