Bailey and all in his box got absolutely Pants tonight by Rocket.

I was not totally suprised because Eade is coaching for his survival....But then so is Dean.

Very Disappointing...

Absolutely right. Eade planned it against us brilliantly, his match-ups were spot-on. He knew where WE were going to be in trouble with match-ups and exploited it to perfection.

Unfortunately, when the opposition coach has worked out how to destroy our effectiveness, our coaching staff are totally unable to counter it. And equally unfortunately, the best coaches like Eade & Malthouse know that too. It's not just Bailey; we simply have no strategic or tactical capability at all among our whole coaching staff. If we don't get it from somewhere, then this is as good as it gets.

That's the way i see it. It is not just Dean, but when problems begin, they just get bigger.

Our list has talent to burn, so against the bottom sides this is not a problem. The Bulldogs are going down, but they are still in "Top 4" mode..They know pressure, understand it.

I wonder if our coaching staff understand pressure and how to counter it....Tonight's game was just not acceptable.

Tonight I didn't see it as a gameplan issue more of a player problem tonight. Every loss we have is thrown on Bailey and I personally don't think its fair.

Our best players or lots of them did not perform. Moloney, Sylvia, Jamar, Martin, Scully and Jurrah were all down on their best and you cannot win games of football with 6 of your best 10 playing poor footy. Scully couldn't break his tag and no-one would help him... thats a player let down.

Secondly, it wasn't Dean on the ground completely giving up in the last quarter it was the boys.

Give him a break.

Over possession of the ball by hand, and then giving off a bad option repeatedly to the opposition is a coach problem.

The last Quarter was a player problem, but by then it was too late.

Dean is now coaching for his life....a high possession by hand game plan will not work against the top sides.

And yes i know the Westies are not a top side this year, but they have a lot of September players still in that side.

I agree 'Land 7. Your second para, combined with what has been written in the 'Physical Maturity' thread were far more 'match defining' last night than any shortcomings in our gameplan or lack of initiative by the coaching staff. Three consecutive six day breaks didn't help either.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
