Surprised Morton's name hasn't cropped up I thought he was absolutely insipid today. He is soft and lazy and I think he needs more time at Casey until he ca earn a spot. Some faults in Morton's game;

1 - Hangs back 50m side-on to the play looking for the cheap uncontested possessions.

2 - Doesn't work back the other way leaving his team-mates to cover his opponent when his opponent gets the footy. This happened several times in the 2nd quarter today. It's not like he was burnt off by his opponent they were both in the vicinity of the contest he just refuses to cover his opponent once he realises he will not get possession.

3 - Refuses to work hard to lead towards the kicker. Morton's version of a lead is to (very) slowly jog away from the kicker with one hand in the air. This makes it difficult for his teammate to spot him up and results in the kick having to go over the opponents head. This results in making his team-mate who has kicked the ball to him look bad for causing the turnover.

4 - Refuses to put his body behind the footy.

5 - Gives up the contest too easily. He was standing 5 metres off his opponent at one point today on the HBF. His opponent dropped the mark however instead of Morton being there to apply pressure his opponent was able to recover the ball and get away an easy possession because Morton had given up the chase once he thought his opponent had taken the mark.

Say what you will about Bartram but he does a job every week and busts his gut for 100% of the game. I would keep Bartram in every day of the week over Morton.

I detest Cale Morton's endeavour, but he went back with the flight several times today which I thought was excellent. Credit where it's due.

(He was still average though)

Spot on, I wasn't at the game today so Morton didn't look that bad on TV, but he frustrates me to no end. Danny Frawley ripped into him during the coverage, rightly so.

He is a fringe player, no longer best 22.

Does anyone think Sylvia is in trouble for his late bump in the 3rd qtr. A Freo player had to be helped by the trainer. Admittedly, I didn't get a good look at the replay.

The AFL clearly have a duty to make examples of (selected) players who behave inappropriately, inappropriately that is in the view of the MRP at one particular moment in time.

Now remind me, what jumper was Sylvia wearing today - surely not the red & blue one - offer him a couple of weeks then.

Do I sound paranoid??

Does Stef Martin need a rest?? Just a thought.

Would hate to see him burn out, he has worked really hard this year.

Is Gawn ready to work with Jamar?

We need to get a benchmark against Richmond. They've got Vickery and Angus Graham, + Browne. I think we need to get a measure of where were both at. It may depend on the Weather.

Rush will crap all over Vickery and Graham, and the Experience will do similar on current form.

Petterd's been booked for striking Crowley in the 1st quarter. anyone see it?

Biggest load of shite.

Crowley had a sook (I detest that moron!) after the weakest back elbow you will ever see. I'd be shocked if it doesn't get thrown out. Over reactionary rubbish from the umpire.

I was talking to a West Australian Coach who Coached down Bunbury way. He said Morton was like this even as a youngster. Said he thought he hasn't come on. Disappointing.

Out: Garland (inj) Gawn bennell

I was out and only saw the second half, but why would you want so many changes next week ?

I understand Rush needs to come back, but when we have an effective ruck combo in Martin and Gawn, what's the hurry?

These guys even held their own last week against the Maggies.

Just to say Gawn's gotta go, doesn't make sense.

That tackle he laid in the 3rd qtr which ended up with the Trengove goal was as good as you'll see.

It was from a player, giving his all!!

Think about people management a bit and logic, before making suggestions like this.

If Ricky P is suspended then straight swap for Dunn.

Not in your wildest dreams.

Dunn is useless. And Petterd played higher up the ground than Dunn is capable of.

If Petterd is suspended, we could look to Tapscott as a replacement. Play him through the middle, with Nicholson and Strauss playing the defensive role he was playing before he got injured.

I'd swap Tapscott for Strauss.

We'll need someone in for Garland too which is another headache.

Don't agree on Dunn he should be used as a key forward but has yet to be used in such a role that he normally gets at Casey.

Dunn is a lot higher on my list than Bate, Wona or Maric.

1) Being higher on the list than Bate, Wonna or Maric does not mean you are a good player.

2) Dunn has shown, repeatedly, that he is incapable of transforming VFL form into AFL form. He can't do it.

3) Dunn as a key forward is a bad, bad idea.

4) Tapscott could well come in for Strauss, but I would not be dropping Strauss and then bringing Dunn in for someone else.

Yeah right. This game last year he got 5 goals, creamed Deledio and got 3 Browlow votes.

Yep. That means he is automatically going to do well this year. Just ignore the fact that he is in no form to speak of.

I know that, but that won't tell us how we compare Kids v kids, to see how we look against them for 4 yrs time. So maybe the Russian can just play forward for quite a bit, or they could hold him back for a week, to give Gawn and Martin confidence against a tlatented duo.

We also need to see how our mids go without an armchair ride to measure us against the Martin / Cotchin / Tiger mids.

Dunn is one who could come in for Jurrah as well. Defensive forward. He's dunn Ok against the Tiges in the past from memory.

if bartram gets dropped it is ridiculous, he made a few mistakes by foot sure, but he is rarely beaten in one on one contests, chases hard, tackles, applies pressure, and rarely gets beaten by his opponent.

he will play on nahas or king, and towel them up, if he doesnt play, no doubt we are weaker defensively, sure his kicking is off target at times, and these mistakes are always noticeable, but jordie mckenzie made 2 mistakes by foot aswell, towelled up pavlich, do we drop him because his kicking (when he did kick it) was off, god no.

there was a video on mfc site not long ago which said along the lines of, bartram is in the first few players picked to play the match, and no doubt he will play this week again!!

it irks me so much to see people hang on him for his offensive game, when his defensive game is the most important role for a defender.

R Jamar Moloney McKenzie

Int: Gysberts Petterd Jurrah

Would love to see 3 bigs on the ground in the 4th Q. One at each end and one on the ball. Couldn't have less effect than Bennell today.

In: Tapscott, Jamar, Gysberts

Out: Garland (inj), Bennell, Bartram (was okay today but the ins are better)

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
