GAME DAY

Featured Replies

Make changes Dean ,, Micky is killing us ffs

im of the opinion that the pies and cats are a long way ahead of most sides. Its just silly skill errors and the pies pressure which is killing us. No quick fix.

Unfortunately we are still a joke.

Nobody is playing well today. We are getting smashed in contested possessions, not surprisingly Rivers is rubbish on a quick opponent and our game plan is crumbling.

Pathetic. Infuriating. Rubbish.

We're playing the best team in the comp who are right on their game, really disciplined. Doesn't look like we're lacking effort, just being outplayed, outexperienced and outskilled.

i hate supporters and niaive quotes like this

contested possie - gettn flogged, thats effort

we came close to them last year so what was wrong then

woeful post

Every kick in from a point goes to the right and Cloke is waiting there everytime.

So bloody predictible!!!

Pies stream out of our defense with ease,no forward pressure,we can't get through their defense, hence the 37-13 inside 50 differential.

sorry i'll go back to being a massive negative nancy then

[censored] team

crap coach

horrible pissweak captain

we'll fold before we win a flag

but hey, we'll probably win next week against freo at home, so we can all suddenly be positive about our future right?

some comments

the pies have been extremely impressive...

they're bigger, fitter, stronger... always have numbers at the ball, their pressure is awesome...

rivers needed to go to CHB, he's always going to be exposed deep...

possibly trengove's worst game? he's trying real hard, but just not got the touch today...

the effort is there from most...

you make a mistake, they make you pay...

Interesting how the Pies leave Cloke camped at FF so they can just bomb it blindly from a turnover, which we have been dutifully providing.

23-61 at the half.

Watts made a big start and has continued to run hard, as has Scull. Simple errors have killed us, in front, in front of goal and in the corridor. And almost inexplicably, we've followed up massive gang tackles with crap efforts, watching players waltz through packs an into open goals.

Worst umpiring decision of the half: Jones is tackled, gets it out, Luke Ball pulls it back in, tackled by 2, holding the ball, AGAINST JONES!!!

We're playing the best team in the comp who are right on their game, really disciplined. Doesn't look like we're lacking effort, just being outplayed, outexperienced and outskilled.

Good summary.

we were playn them last year and had better effort

stop acceptn mediocrity

todays effort is nowhere good engh

People who are saying effort is the problem have no idea. Collingwood are playing like the Premiership side they are. This is a development year and I can see development from our players . . . so that one day we can be where Collingwood is at. Poor disposal has really cost us today, though.

The filth have been poor today.

Compared to how they've played the last 18 months, they have been very average.

Says a lot about how we are playing

Actually, talking about the opponent's form over the past 18 months says nothing about us at all.

how do people say we have been ok today?

do they see how we played against them last year or our effort last week?

have a look at the inside 50's and contested footy and tell me its not game plan or effort....

muppets who keep makin excuses for our club

Actually, talking about the opponent's form over the past 18 months says nothing about us at all.

It says a lot about us that we are 7 goals down against an opponent who are playing well below their best.

That this rank performance is acceptable and defended by some chooks beggars belief

"our club" ... what "our club"? Weak post from weak supporters who spit the dummy when the going gets tough.

Outclassed and outplayed by arguably the best team in the comp, certainly the most disciplined. Out-bodied in both the back line and the forward line.

Get over it. Moving on to Freo.

Not a great game today. Watts has been unbelievable, getting a hold if it end to end. Half the team though has barely been seen since 1/4 time. Trenners and Green have had shockers. Barty hasn't been great. Can't help thinking the pace we lost with Nicho out would have been nice. We were only ever going to win by burning them off.

They are too good, we are not the first side that they have monstered all year.

u have quickly gone away from saying it wasnt an effort issue and didnt reply to my statements

im sure u will be celebrating after freo, but the rollercoaster of effort has to stop...pies have been average today and we just accept being outclassed and outplayed with many of their best out yet last year we got alot closer.....if u put it down to outbodied and outclassed well we were last year against them but we did better....explain the contested position count keepin in mind we did fine last year???

Eh?

boys from triple m are gettin into morton and how he decides when he wants to make an effort

Not good when the only key forward that even looked like half a chance is playing his 2nd game. Good signs from Howe I think a bit of a positive.

Is Cale Morton ever going to go when it's his turn and he isn't beginning first in line. He has watched mark after mark from 1-2m behind without even jumping.

I should have gone skiing !!!

Wouldn't be alone

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
