Goal to Michael Stockdale.

The difference is just 5 points.

So there is a breeze down there KC? Pretty still where I am but I'd be 50 k's from Werribee!!

I'm close to Werribee and no wind here, not at the game though.

Scully was easily Casey's best in the first quarter with howe a clear second, if I would have to guess scully would of had 10 posses and three to four tackles in the first qtr alone. Willy's very experienced forward line of Vespremi, Grant and hahn were on top of their defenders and casey were unable to beat the press that was put on. The second quarter Casey started to win more of the centre clearances and The Casey defence got well on top of their more experienced opponents. BLease played in the middle for that quarter and I thougt it was his best qtr I have seen from him, he capped it off with a very nice snap on the run for a goal. Howe, Strauss and Mcdonald are the others that have impressed so far.

Btw no breeze to Speak of.

Fevola 3, Howe 1, Blease 1, Cook 1, Stockdale 1

Best to half time: Fevola's, Gawn, Wall, Scully, MacDonald, Howe

Casey came back in the second quarter thanks to drive in the middle from big Max Gawn, some good work from Tom Scully (although he is clearly short of a run), and some very attacking defense off half back from Tom MacDonald.

In line with MFCs stated concerns, the mid fielders are obsessed with Fevola's when going forward, and almost totally ignore Howe and Cook. In spite of that, Howe in particular has taken some great overhead, although unspectacular marks, and kicked a good goal. Fev's great strength is his brilliant kicking for goal. He is a real asset for Casey.

Max Gawn is on top in the ruck to Scully's benefit particularly at centre bounces. What I like about big Max is he is not only a great tap ruckman a la the Russian, but for someone who is 6'9", he is quick and agile, and a competent accurate kick. There was one passage of play where after a Williamstown point, he ran from one halfback flank full pelt to the other one and Blease hit him on the chest kicking out outside the 50. Via a series of marks and play ons a goal resulted. I counted three instances of strong play from Max in the centre and excellent delivery resulted indirectly in goals. Our first team could learn a lot from his example and his gut running presenting and accurate kicking. He is undoubtably a key part of our future and should be being blooded now while we are short of key players.

Of the other Demons not yet mentioned, the one I should comment on is Wonna. In my view he is a class player down on fitness sow en he gets the ball you an see his class but does not presently have the engine to do it consistently. Until he does, he should remain at Casey. The other is Tom MacDonald. This guy is all class. I love his intensity at the ball and his willingness totals on the game. He is another I believe will be important to our future. Don't be surprised to see him debut in the next month.

Thanks for the updates.

How do you reckon Strauss is going?

If Gawn keeps this up surely he gets a gig?

Who is 52 for Casey, KC? I hope it's Davis, he's looked ok.

Was standing at the wrong end that half but Scullys been ok, Howe's been good, Gawn is getting plenty of taps, Blease was good in the second and Strauss looks good with the ball in his hands. Tom McDonald has excellent hands and a fair bit of toe for a big bloke

Right now Gawn, Howe, Blease and Scully are all putting their hands up.

Whilst Scully might need another week, the other three should all be in contention.

100% with you on that. Although I think if Scully racks up the 20+ possies (with additional goals?), he'll be straight into the Dees next week. We need him and sounds like he's showing no signs of discomfort.

I am VERY fond of having Blease and Gawn debut next week if they put in a strong effort against Willy (which they are so far doing).

Additionally, Strauss is an interesting one. High draft pick but doesn't seem to have that pressure factor.

Also... Aussie has had 11 possies which is good to see.

Always does at this level.

Means little to me, give someone else a go.

Thanks for the update mate, how do you recon Struass is going?

P.s If Gawn keeps this up surely he gets a gig?

I'm not a great Strauss fan I must admit. I think he is too loose for a back and lacks intensity. Today he has done a few good things but is fairly quiet IMO.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
