Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Where is Tom Scully at?

I bet you would be eqaully disappointed if a fully fit and firing Scully was running around for Casey for a month, with 8 weeks on the injury list being the minimum when you upgrade a rookie.... so he could have been left stranded.

This teel me that the club was possibly optimistic about the extent of the injury at the beginning

Club wasnt going to do that to their number one assett

I'm not blaming anyone, and obviously the Club were optomistic that he would be back with the initial 6 weeks. It doesn't stop me from being a bit disappointed about the fact that the injury is going to end up taking more than 10 wekks, which in that time we could have been playing a rookie should one put his hand up (ie Michael Evans).

Not at all.

You don't promote rookies for the sake of it.

You promote them once they have earnt a game and you are selecting them in the AFL side to play that week.

None of our rookies have done that yet.

Some of them have shown good form, but I doubt any would have been selected for the 1s at this stage if them were on the primary list.

I'm not certain, but I believe there is an initial cost of upgrading a rookie, and then the match payments increase also.

As far as replacing Grimes or Spencer, if they earn it and we intend to play them, upgrade them, of course.

Fitzpatrick has only done an ankle from what I understand.

Fitzpatrick has been reported to be out for 6-8 weeks. If it is 8 weeks, we have the ability to replace him don't we?

I don't know what more Michael Evans can do to be a genuine chance of being called up. From all reports, and I am only going by reports, he has done a lot more than any of our senior-listed midfielders, and consistently has been in Casey's best for well over a month. When 2 weeks ago some were whinging about our midfield, and calling for players to be dropped, I would've thought that Evans would have to be a huge chance of getting a call up. And now we have Grimes and Trengove out, our midfield is missing 2 players, who is going to replace them?

The ruck stocks is a different story. According to your theory, Robbie Campbell WILL NOT be promoted, as he has only played 1 half of a game for the Casey reserves. Even though we have Jamar, Spencer and Fitzpatrick out for extended periods, I'm thinking that based on your logic, Campbell wont be considered to replace any of these guys. Gawn has played some excellent games at Casey/Casey reserves, and is on the Primary list, so that would count RC out?

What about when it comes Round 12 when every club can elevate 1 rookie. Do we not participate in this because, according to you, none of them would have been selected in the seniors?

I'm confused by your thoughts, sorry!

This should be the final concern from a football club perspective and not sure what the point is of including it??

I'm not sure anyone promotes just for the sake of it. Circumstance may see it bought forward from what the more ideal approach would be but I'd suggest the success of the rookie list etc shows that 'taking the punt', due to the circumstance actually pays off.

My uncle spotted him out on Saturday night having dinner at a family function in Caulfield. When he asked a family member "if that was Scully & what is the occasion, the family member confirmed that it was Tom and he was moving to Sydney next year & this was his going away dinner. He then saw my uncles jaw on the ground and told him that it was his cousin's birthday, engagement or something. He was clearly having him on & had the biggest grin on his face!!

Just as he was walking out my uncle asked how long he was out for & is he happy there!! 3 weeks & loves the place!! He went home a happy man.

I actually heard that he went to the 2011 World Handball Championships in Sweden. He met with Ulrik Wilbek, the Danish Coach, and I'm to believe research is still being conducted in regards to the Scully family tree/any Danish connections. It is believed he is considering this sport due to the many issues/concerns surrounding Australian sport, and in particular, the recent form of the GWS in the Foxtel Cup, as well as the uncertainty of if Black Caviar can make it 13 from 13 this weekend.

Thanks for that. Made me smile. Obtuseness is a much under-rated art.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
