The last rites were given tonight but it has been slowly dying for some time. We first knew it was sick when it lost its manliness a decade or so ago and it was only a shadow of its former self at the end, bareley recognisable to its loved ones, weak and limp, it finally slipped into the unknown

Farewell old friend

Concur. A game I love so much is becoming increasingly tarnished. Money has played a big part in ruining this game, and now a bunch of idiot's are putting the final nails in the coffin.

Too right. 3 weeks for a good tackle, wat an absolute joke. Hell should be raised for this

Must be the night for unconvincing matters.

RIP.

Anyone up for chess?

exactly....it all started when they brought in the 50 metre penalties and applied it to even minor infractions

just another case of AFL bully over-reacting.

I'm more pizzed off than after the WC game

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
