Going on Sunday?

Featured Replies

Believe it or not some peole have other things in their lives besides the MFC.

Especially when families arrange a get together for lunch and the afternoon.

" sorry I won't be there"

"why not"?

"Because I am going to see the Dees"

"You mean you are putting that bunch of softies before mum and the rest of us

There are plenty more matches you Know"!

It happens to lots of people and they are the ones that actually want to see the Dees before their mother and family.

Unfortunately My mum is long gone but the dees would not have come between me and her.

Remember guys it is only a bloody football match!

My brilliant sense of humour is clearly wasted on the foolish young posters of Demonland

Let's all get there and show some support .....

I urge all to have a think what essendon supporters were like last year bitching and moaning about their coach !!!!! It was disgusting !!!!!

Reality is if essendon need ex club legends at the helm to want have players commit to playing fair dinkum footy good luck go them. That a club culture problem in itself.

We are already thought of as toff bandwagon supporters anyhow, let's not behave in a mannor that portrays such arrogance and insecurities !!!!!

LETS GET TO THE G AND GIVE THEM A LIFT BY BEING AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE !!

Dont not turn up cos your a bit disappointed. Get along, scream and shout and go sick. Make your Mum proud. Last weeks just that now. We didnt get Baileys blood lets get Craigys.

Really? My mum has come to expect that of me.

Mine will be hearing it live in the Ponsford Stand.

Rain, Hail, Shine, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, heck even Christmas Day (dont give City Hall Ideas) I'd be there in my seat at the G.

Barely missed a game in 30 years, its irrelevant the state, parlous or otherwise of our clubs onfield and off-field fortunes.

Youve got to be there to support your team, its always the highlight of the week for me getting to my seat. Heck, theres a guy that sits behind me who's 95 and there every week. I hope I have his staying power!

The best banner in recent times was the "FINALS OVER" banner that was unfurled to a scowling mob of Feral Collingwood supporters one fantastic QB...

Are you interested in getting your 5 seconds of cheap fame or are you going there to actually support the side? I dont care how sharp or witty you might think your sheet will be. Its an hardly an attempt to support the Club. And if you think its positive incentive for the Club then its a pity.

The Club and the players are down and its easy to get on forums, facebook and email to be critical of the Club. Its a lot harder to stick fat with the Club. This is a challenge for the players and the supporters. If the Club dont turn it around in the coming week then players and officials should and will be held accountable. But it should be through the parties responsible for doing this. Not the cheap knee jerk lynch mob mentality which has dominated this Forum for the past week.

Lighten up.

I'll be going on Sunday because two and half years years ago they were going to shut the doors of this club. Forever. They said that this club didn't stand for anything, that it wasn't worth holding on to, that we should move to tassie or the Gold Coast. Then, as the saying goes about when the going gets tough, the Melbourne fans got going. It was the fans who donated the money, who signed up in record numbers even though we had our worst team in 25 years, who kept turning up, who made more noise than I'd ever heard Melbourne fans make. It was even the fans who found the sponsors.

The Melbourne supporters saved the club.

Doesn't stand for anything my arse.

And the players responded. Who could forget, when Jimmy told us he was sick in 2009, the match the following weekend against West Coast. It was our most important match since the 2000 Grand Final. If ever there was a test of what the players stood for, it was that day. They needed to show that they loved the club half as much as Jimmy does. We won by 10 goals. In a season when we finished bottom and won four games. And Junior and Flash carried Jimmy's old jumper off the ground at the end.

I still believe in these players and this coach because Jimmy still does. I know they'll turn it around because of the way they played that day in 2009. Other people can do whatever they want; it's not for me to tell other supporters how to act. But it seems silly to me that, having saved the club in its darkest hour, the fans would not get behind the team now. That they wouldn't turn out in even greater numbers, make even more noise.

So, in answer to your question, yes, I'll be attending this Sunday. And I'll go every week because I'll love this club forever, unconditionally, and I'll always believe in it.

If the players show me that they love the club half as much as I do, I'll go home happy.

Unleash hell demons.

Have to agree 110% with RR

Sniping and cutting people down takes us backwards.

I don't believe there actually was anything "easy to say" about exposing the fact that destructive criticism (about a woeful performance) can never ever lead us out of the wilderness.

It's just the wrong language and the wrong way to go.

If we moved past off with his head, we might actually come up with some good ideas.

(Please don't kill me for expressing these thoughts )

Don't worry Harry, the MFC supporters want this club to be strong again..The last 5 days have proven that.

I think the supporters are just going to make more noise about it though, and if that means the club has to toughen up a bit...so be it.

I reckon that this will be one of the games to watch this year from a Melbournefc perspective, will be really driven to make an impact and make up for last week, no reason we shouldnt get 20-25K there

brilliant post

I'll be going on Sunday because I want this club to survive, succeed and flourish. The love of football and a football team is built on hope and promise. The emotional roller coaster is part of it. There will always be drama. Yes I would like the Dees to be a consistently great team but the fact is, they are not at the moment. I, like every other Dees supporter, was gutted and deflated after the Weagles game. It seemed like the worst performance in the last three years because we now have the players with potential. I am still not convinced that Bailey is no good. I've seen enough to think that he may know what he is doing. He still has the remainder of the year to establish his credentials.

This Sunday is important. The most important game in Bailey's coaching tenure to date. It is even more important to the club and those players who performed poorly last week. I don't subscribe to the idea that the recruiters have got it all wrong and all of our draft choices have been second rate. I do still think that Morton is soft and we could have done better but I've seen enough of the rest to think that we have a potentially great list. So this next week begins the rest of the season and the future (a statement of the bleedin' obvious, I know).

Its the opportunity for people like Davey, who we know is brilliant, to overcome his recent tagging problems. for Frawley to find some confidence, for Watts to continue that kind of angry demeanour that saw him go harder last week, for Jurrah to chase harder, for Moloney to recapture the great form he has showed, for Grimes to begin to take them on again etc.etc.etc. Do we really think that these players are no good? I certainly don't. I will be there hoping like hell that they can play with skill, passion and team cohesion and that we will begin to trend upwards again.

Are you interested in getting your 5 seconds of cheap fame or are you going there to actually support the side? I dont care how sharp or witty you might think your sheet will be. Its an hardly an attempt to support the Club. And if you think its positive incentive for the Club then its a pity.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
