Jimmy had to drag the club out the [censored] off the field and its looking like it might be up to him to get action on field too. Hopeful he is feeling full of energy to take over from Bailey!

And this is about the best team we can put on the park. who have we got to put pressure on these guys? Scully, out for half a season? McKenzie? who else.

well shut my mouth 2 goals in a row

I thought Morton had been okay so far, though I stopped watching closely about 15 minutes ago. Surprised by the criticism.

Yeah, i can't single him out

Lift your heads you weak pricks

well that sums it up

Even if we win this (by some weird twist of fate) the consecutive string of pathetic starts is inexcusable.

well that sums it up

No, Sylvia just summed it all up. Pathetic!

We actually won that quarter??? Didn't feel like it.

Unbelievably its only 4 goals... feels a bit like the Hawks tho, should be much further behind than we are... I hope a new team comes out in the 2nd half.

To sum Melbourne up .. They're all waiting for someone else to do the hard work.

PATHETIC

Correct. When I watch Richmond they at least play with passion I hate supporting a weak club and that's what we are spineless weak footballers

Demons getting smashed after another poor start. Cue the 'gallant' comeback to grind out a respectable loss. Deja Vu?

we deserve to be 50 pts down...

all the people who said we played well against gold coast were kiddin emselves, we were woeful against them too

so many mistakes and so little intensity or game plan

dont care if we win, lose by 1pt or 15 goals, we havent been good enouigh

Aussie or Bennell to be subbed please.

It's not saying much, but Bennell has done more than most of the others with few exceptions.

C'mon Dees! Let's show ourselves and the world that we're not just happy to bend over and take it when things get hard.

Jones, Watts, Garland, Jamar our top contributers. Trengove also good.

How in the hell did

Jack Darling slip to pick 26???

Another good question. And also, why do we start so badly every week? And why when we needed to stand up in second quarter did we rely on a first year player in tapscott to crunch someone? And another, why do I feel so tense?

Where the [censored] is Brad Green - hasnt touch the ball all year...

Gone from an almost all aus to a player that looks past it.

Slow and unfit

This game is making me feel physically ill. I can't cope with it anymore.

We are so bad, it's actually depressing.

Bartram, Watts, Grimes and Garland are working hard. Everyone else is asleep. WTF is going on with my man Frawley?!

It looks like such a lazy performance, and the joke is that WCE are actually pretty poor. We just keep gifting them goals.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
