Match Commitee

Featured Replies

Something that i have noticed over the last couple of seasons is that the match commitee seem very unsure what the actual starting line is going to be until closer to the game, i am probably way off but just from the way they name the team with extended benches and dont list any of the players that are out of the team?

As i said i may be reading to much into this and may be way but would like to hear your thoughts on the subject

This is just standard behaviour. Why would you restrict yourself more than you need to?

I think the more likely scenario is that they've already decided who the team will be but want to create a bit of "noise" rather than letting the cat out of the bag straight away.

So why do all the other teams name there teams on thursday? and plus this week we are playing gold coast - surely we are good enough to beat with trying to make smoke screens about whose playing?

In my opinion its nothing but a pain in the arse to punters and fantasy coaches!

It's Thursday night....we play on Sunday. That's 3 days where things can change.

Because it's a Sunday game and for Sunday games you are allowed to name an extended bench of 7, for Saturday and Friday games you are only allowed to name 4. You may notice that all the teams playing on Sunday have named 7 players on the bench (I haven't looked, but I bet it's true).

The sole reason MFC do it all the time is because we have so many Sunday games.

It's not about smoke screens (though this is a nice benefit even if it's only a 1%er), it's about covering yourself in case anyone gets injured etc in the next couple of days, with that being the whole reason you're allowed to do it at all.

Smoke Screen, my dear bruce, Smoke Screen.

Shurely they All do it.

For one thing they announce the teams with an extended Bench, with some players listed that are Not going to play, but As a note to those players that they're being noticed and are getting close to call up. Encouragement.

It's also the same for us supporters, to share the hopes and dreams of the young players early in their careers, with the eager supporters.

Builds excitement and speculation around the dide.

I like it.

So what are emergencies for then?

An emergency.

Someone please tell me this thread is really about pulling our leg, lmfao

They're for last minute changes on the day.

But they usually only take one with them interstate. And name the team two days before therefore the final team will be announced roughly by 5pm tommorrow.

Well i am glad you all realise that emergencies are listed for last minute injurys/changes.

So why do we never name our 22 and the three emergencies - instead we always throw up this bull s**t extended bench?

If we're playing on a Friday or Saturday we always name our 22 + 3 emergencies when teams come out on a Thursday night.

If we're playing on a Sunday we always name our 25 (including an extended bench) when teams come out on a Thursday night. We then reduce this to 4+3 on the Friday night (and every other team playing on a Sunday does the same).

Because they are not sure of the 22 this far out...

I'm sure your Dreamteam would love it as we name 22 and then it changes repeatedly between Thursday night and Sunday afternoon...

This issue brings up an interesting...wait, what are we talking about?

1 whole minute you owe me BA...

In my opinion its nothing but a pain in the arse to punters and fantasy coaches!

That's the least of the match committee's concerns.

Can you not understand basic English? It has been explained half a dozen times to you.

Wow.....

If you can't understand how all clubs name their teams each week how could you possibly question what the match committee are doing???

Agreed. The MFC should really consider the hard work I am doing with my SC team when they do team selection.

Yeah, the economy and the productivity associated would be on the rise in this country...if it weren't for the delay of the match committee's selected 22.
