Yep. But they'll both be avaialable relatively early in the season and their injuries still allow them to keep their fitness levels high (running, riding etc) so fingers crossed they'll both be back to their best sooner rather than later.

On a different note, many people round here were calling for Petterd's inclusion not only in the NAB cup teams but also for round 1. Having been off for so long it is no surprise that he is now succumbing to hamstring and other related injuries. He needs to be eased back into it and i would be extremely surprised if he wasn't playing at Casey at least for the first couple of rounds just to get some confidence back in his body.

A great opportunity for others to stake their claims...

Never quite sure what you can take from The injruy lists on club web sites!

They usually take liberties with the truth

However the first two worry me.

Foot injuries in big guys are often disasters just look at Messen the last two years.

Campbell was always a big gamble and he was the last rookie taken but it does not look good

Achilles injurys are shockers.

I serious doubt we will see either until mid year and Campbell might be never.

The training report said that Petterd was moving freely so the 1-2 weeks means continuity of training before playing?

The interestng comparison is the one to be made from the last injury report -

Robbie Campbell (achilles) - 2-3 weeks (two weeks ago) should be 1 week but is 4 - 6 weeks (gone backwards)

Jack Fitzpartick (foot) - on crutches (but not on injury list two weeks ago) (gone backwards)

James Frawley (pectoral) - 10-12 weeks (two weeks ago) should be 8 - 10 weeks but is 6 - 8 weeks (better than expected?)

Jordie McKenzie (groin soreness) - (not on injury list two weeks ago) now 1 week (I'm skeptical)

Cale Morton (broken finger) - (not on injury list two weeks ago) is 4 - 6 weeks (we'll see)

Michael Newton (broken wrist) - 6-8 weeks (two weeks ago) is 4 - 6 weeks (on track)

Ricky Petterd (hamstring/back)— 1-2 weeks (two weeks ago) should clear to play but is 1 - 2 weeks (no improvement)

Yeah, it could be better. Especially at this time of year. The plus side is that there's nothing career threatening in there. No popped shoulders, knee recos... They're all things you can recover from and feel no effects from in the future. Having said that, I'm not expecting massive things from Petterd in 2011... at least not the first part. And I fear the pec injury to Frawley will mean it's cost him a significant chunk of his pre-season... so I expect his heights to diminish just for 2011.

It hurts. but by gee it could be a lot worse.

Yep, 4 players who at their best are in our best 22 isn't great but it is probably similar across the comp.

What is exciting though is that it gives Warnock, Bate, Gysberts, Tapscott, Blease, Aussie, Maric and a couple of others the chance to show how hungry they are to obtain and retain a spot in the starting 22. That kind of hunger and competition for spots is what drives good clubs to becoming great clubs. That is what i'm looking forward too!
