This is an amazing draft pick really. I don't know anything about Howe specifically but I do know about the club he came from. Dodges Ferry plays in a second tier competition in Tassie, and given that the standard of the first tier competition in Tas is abysmal compared to the VFL, SANFL etc, Howe really has come straight from bush footy in to the AFL.

Given this obscurity, I wouldn't have thought the demand for him would be huge. I'd have (in my totally uneducated opinion) thought he'd still be around for our picks in the 50. Barry and team must have really rated him to take him with this pick (i.e. felt they couldn't risk losing him between 33 and 50).

This is the pick that will hold the most interest for me out of all of ours.

Not sure if the table will come out right but 102cm is up there with Brennan and NicNat!!

To be honest, Howe, just from his highlights package, looks a better bet than Kieran Harper.

That's all he has also, not much consistency there.

And in regards to the running vertical leap, the highest recorded at the Draft Combine is 102cm, achieved by both Naitanui & Jared Brennan.

Howie is in good company (in terms of athleticism).

This is one guy that really excites me, more so because no one had heard of him and I rate BP's work. So if we've plucked him at 33, and no one knew about him, well that gets me excited.

i'm excited by this guy...massive leap and a little older at 20. has already been playing against men. should start to fill out...if he can adjust to the work load of afl football we could have another gem at the MFC.

BP and the guys could have felt some heat elsewhere as E25 mentioned. Certainly a most interesting pick and a big watch.

I told him that I was surprised we took him at 33. My cousin said that he was surprised as well, but there was more than one other club looking at him. Said he had massive potential and playing in Tassie has probably held him back.

Yeah his defensive game is very good, Playing for Hobart they dont tolerate people not chasing. If he didn't he would be in the twos. Playing in the AFL aswell will raise it further because he will thrive in this environment.

Over Danny Hughes im not sure I was a huge fan of Hughes but he never got going with injuries.

Thanks, that's good to know, he is an exciting prospect.

Going on his highlights he looks to be capable of some things at a very high standard. I love the way he attacks the ball in the air, reminds me of jumping Jack from the tigers.

I wonder what his consistancy is like and the if there is a big gap between his best and worst. These things are hard to tell from just highlights...but i like that he has such a good beep test so he should have the motor to stay involved.

If we can get him to do the right thing consistatly we might have a player here.

We've now stockpiled an enourmous amount of forward talent, and in every single shape and size.

We are developing an ultra dangerous combination of forwards who can take an overhead mark and be equally dangerous at ground level.

At 20 years old i'm hoping to see him in action next year
