Great post rpfc. I always tick the MFC box when renewing my MCC subs and the combined amount is direct-debited . The $731- sure punches a hole in my limited retiree's resources but following the Dees is important to me.

There are, as TU said, around 25k MFC supporters in the MCC.

Over 9k of those people are signed up MFC members for 2011.

Those non-MCC supporters who have a problem with us can you know what.

Those MCC members who can afford the $150 but take the $50 can do the same. Those MCC members that can afford the $50 but don't take it up can also do the same.

It isn't a question of being 'with us' or 'against us' it's a matter of me not liking you because you support a cricket club you have probably never seen play (and never want to, bunch of arrogant....) until you pay the extra donation to the MFC.

I don't care that the MCC gives money to the club, until you do - I don't want to know about you.

I think a lot more MCC members will cough up the extra money for the MFC now the 2 parties are joined, it will be very interesting to watch these figures in the next few years.

I think a lot of MCC members now realize the Football club Needs a strong Cash Flow if we are to see our great club lift up the Grail. It is not going to just happen.

All MCC Melbourne supporters must cough up for both. Do it via the telephone on the Visa, you won't notice the Bill until a month later!!!

Am not a MCC member and never been there. As I never had the opportunity I don't miss it. I enjoy the outer and even in the old days when you could, I'd enter in the Melbourne members reserve in the Olympic stand and go around to the Southern Stand. Was a Redlegs for one season in the 80's but couldn't stand some of the stuck up Redleg members in their reserve and the haughty doorman. Always been suspicious of the MCC. None of the half dozen or so MCC members I know well follow Melbourne. I dislike them for this because they are only there for the prestige of being in the MCC. Reinforces my opinion that this is a snooty club and could not be bothered with it. If the MCC took more interest in our club I might change my mind.

Good luck to the tofs in the dining room- too expensive for me every time I go.

Could not agree more!

Wona makes it sound like we have a choice!

At the end of the day a Dees win is a Dees win wherever you are.

I would stand in the outer with nothing to eat and my bladder bursting to see a GF win.

Hang on I did that in 64.

Sorry! could not help myself I had to say it!

The actual leadership of the club, is a conservative self servicing group from the top end of Collins Street. They have an antiquated dress code to maintain the class barriers, eg. No zips on coats in the Long Room or Dining room. Meant to keep the lesser lights out of their world. We all have zips on our flies so what's wrong with zips on coats. Never the less they actually do a fine job in running the place and providing a magnificant facility. I've been going for some 55 years and just love being there to see the dee's. Don't bother much now if Dee's not playing. It's a great place to wonder around pregame 1/4 and 1/2 time because you never know who you are going to bump into..many times bump into old mates, even primary school mates. Looking forward to my 50 year membership in a couple of years to cut the price ( I also pay for my wife who has my once ladies ticket come member card).

I'm still trying to not let too much of the Mr Hide out of the box but damn umpires don't help that.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
