Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A Detroit win would've given a little breathing room for the vikes. I'd prefer to win the division then have Green Bay lose it if that makes sense. One question that was raised on Minnesota radio. Would you prefer to win the division and possibly play seattle at home? Or take the wild card spot and play the NFC East winner which at the moment is Washington. I'd take Washington over playing seattle.

The top 5 all picked up 2 points this week with a few of us breathing a sigh of relief that the Panthers got up ...

Wow we got spanked. Yes we had 3 of our best defenders injured and the refs didn't help but it didn't matter. Seattle flogged us. They have a much improved passing game then they did in their Super Bowl year and Wilson can still take off. AP wins us games but no RB will get you close to a Super Bowl. Teddy needs to take over but our offensive line is filthy bad. Pats are now the #3 seed. It's amazing, all that winning and they drop a couple and a pats team away from foxbourough in the championship game could be huge.

Who'd have thought a 5-0 team would turn around and be 6-6... This falcon side is cooked. Wild card spot is good as gone..

Seattle looking like the Seattle of old

Philly ? What a turn around

The NFC East winner may well suit a team that has the best wild-card record. At the moment it's the Vikings which would mean the Packers would then face Seattle (if the standings remained the same as they are now)

That week 17 game between the Packers & Vikings could have another new meaning to it

Yeah, the Pats faltering has changed everything in the AFC ... I can see New England dropping a couple more with that banged up offense.

Seattle are the most dangerous team in the NFC - they can win anywhere and won't be overawed in any way. Wilson has really stepped things up - he's always been a talent and seems to really like pressure.

Rams fire Cignetti as they are 31st in offence.

Gregg Rosenthal tweeted a pearler

"Fisher and Snead haven't put up a top 20 offence in years or points in four seasons in St. Louis. But it's Cignettis fault"

the he guy replacing him is the TE coach who hasn't done a lot of play calling... FML.

some decent games, the skins/ cowboys was terrible until the last two minutes.

saints were stiff not to win.

Thursday night football is another interesting match-up (Vikes @ Arizona)

A few other good games but the SNF game with the Pats @ Houston is another vital game. 7mate games are Steelers @ Bengals (early) and Cowboys @ Packers (late)

Week 14 games (1 point only)

Yep, and I can't believe I'm still within striking distance ... the first 2 years saw a lot of us pick up 3 points in week 17 so if that trend continues, it will pay to be in the lead going into the last week.

I'm going to have to "win out" in any case because I reckon 11 points or more will win it ... but ya never know.

Ah man we had that game. Two fumbles and missed interceptions killed us. That's the second game tying/winning drive that was stopped by a strip sack. Dunno why we didn't spike the ball and kick the FG and go to over time. Teddy was really good after last weeks disaster.

I get the bit where the Vikes want to get closer for the field goal ... they can't throw it in the field of play (with 13 seconds remaining) but a "sack" isn't counted on - that's worst case scenario.

Everything is just about a risk in this sport and I suppose without risk there's no reward. You're not out of it cbh and that's a decent effort by your blokes in Arizona.

I can support the decision to go for it on 3rd down. A 48 yard field goal to go to OT isn't exactly great odds of winning the game. The FG is probably 90% and winning in over time against a good team on the road is probably about 40% depending on the coin toss. A quick out increases the odds of the FG and you never know when you'll get a blown coverage and the winning TD.

What seemed to be the issue from what I've read was Norv's play call. There wasn't a lot of help for the O line and there seemed to be a lot of receivers in the middle of the field when the pass could only go to the sideline.

A bad mistake and loss for Teddy but otherwise a good game and learning point for him. Unless they create an unbelievable defense I can't see Teddy winning much if he progresses to Alex Smith style safe QB. Running the ball is fine but you need at least enough of a pass threat to open up the run.

Anyway, the last 2 Thursday nights combined with the Bears missing FG's and throwing a win last week has led me to my continued belief that the rest of the NFC North only exists to support the Packers. Because just when they start looking awfully shaky the other 3 teams all conspire to gift them the division.

I guess it's better than the AFC East where the teams just roll over for the Pats every year besides a Rex Ryan team that decides to make it more comical before losing.

He's reached Neeld level in the press conferences as well.

The only saving grace for him might be that the franchise is suffering through similar turmoil as San Diego with uncertainty about their future. And maybe the Bradford-Foles situation wasn't his choosing.

Either way I can't see how the Rams would let Fisher be in charge of the next OC or develop the QB of the future they surely must draft.

I agree, but thought it may have just been me seeing it through angry eyes.

they won't sack him now, but years end they must. I think they are waiting to see where the team will be before signing a new coach.

Taking a risk macca ?

Well, sort of ...

I don't fancy the Pats, Detroit, Saints or the Colts and I do rate Pittsburgh & the Giants (at least for this week anyway)

Whether that all converts to me picking up a precious point is another thing though

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
