And with a very handy back-up in Carson Wentz as QB (who played well)

There was a time where Wentz was regarded as close to the best in the league

"The future is in good hands with these two young men at QB" Cris Collinsworth on Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott 31/10/2016

I wrote this down in my phone note app during a Sunday or Monday night game between the Eagles and 'Boys at the time.

A part of me wouldn't have minded seeing Miami win so we'd get a rematch next week!

Trying to line up all the names in some sort of semblance of order is damn near impossible!

Looks ok(ish) on a laptop but on a phone, landscape view only of course

The post-season comp (from my point of view) in terms of picking winners & margins is good fun

So, in the off season we should have an open chat about the regular season comp in terms of tweaking or even a do-over.

Even just picking 2 road winners instead of 3 would mean that we'd be rewarding more points instead of numerous weeks where no points are allocated.  Maybe incorporating the margin brackets like we do in the post season?

Since we brought in the bonus point, many have been more creative with their picks so there's that

It was a shame that the tough year in Indy hurt his stocks so much. Without that I've got no doubt he'd be starting somewhere. He'll get his chance.

Right now at this point in time I'm edging towards the Rams. Laporta is a huge out.

He is a massive loss. Few our our D got banged up, Fuller the main one, no idea of Higbee will be available either.

Agree. I'm really impressed with Love this year. Good offensive coach, solid running game, a few reinforcements and they could be back with a bang.

yeah the off season drafting for them will be interesting to see which way they want to run their offence.

Maybe 1 point for picking 2 winners, 3pts for picking 3?

Yeah, that seems to be the obvious solution, Gorg, and we could go with that system every week as stock-standard

The high reward for picking 3 remains and a reward for 2 out of 3 (ain't bad)

The bonus point for being the sole winner can stay as it allows people to catch up and incentives creative thinking ... for instance, in week 18 this year, those that went away from picking the Eagles took a chance but were rewarded

Many were eyeing off the 4 points as I believe every combo of 3 picks was different

So, under your system, we play for the 4 points! (which would include a bonus point as an add-on)

@Gorgoroth @layzie @JV7 @DeeSpencer

We have a winner in the tipping comp!

@Dr. Gonzo triumphs after coming home with a 3 pointer just getting past a desperately unlucky @DemonDave and a fast finishing @Gorgoroth ... getting up to gain the 3rd most amount of points was a barnstorming @layzie with @BDA close-up with the 4th amount of points

In the end, a Seattle win or loss decided the 18 week comp

The rest of us competed hard in a very tricky season for road winners (looks like we'll be making a change or 2 for next year's comp - stay tuned and give us your ideas)

Well played gentlemen and thanks for your participation and perseverance!!

Further on down this post are the details on the post-season comp

But for the regular season comp, to the winner, go the spoils!

Wild Card Weekend Schedule (AEDT)

Sun 8.30am  Cleveland (-2) @ Houston (+2)

Sun 12.00pm  Miami (+3) @ Kansas City (-3)

Mon 5.00am  Pittsburgh (+9.5) @ Buffalo (-9.5)

Mon 8.30am  Green Bay (+7) @ Dallas (-7)

Mon  12.00pm LA Rams (+4) @ Detroit (-4)

Tues  12.15pm Philadelphia (-2.5) @ Tampa Bay (+2.5)

A really good selection of games with maybe Dallas and Pittsburgh being the only clear favourites

So, if we get enough starters, we can have another post-season tipping comp

Here's how it works ...

Straight winners & margins (1-6, 7-13,  13+ or post up your scorelines)

Week 1 ... 1 point per win plus 1 bonus point for each correct scoreline bracket

Week 2 ... 2 points per win plus 2 bonus points for each correct scoreline bracket

Week 3 ... 3 points per win plus 3 bonus points for each correct scoreline bracket

Week 5 ... 5 points for the SB win plus 5 points for the correct scoreline bracket

You can use the above list of games (copy & paste) to post up your tips but don't forget to add a scoreline or points bracket (1-6,  7-12 or 13+)

A 2nd chance at tipping glory without the arduous task of trying to find road winners!!

So post up your tips and margins ladies & gentlemen (we could always do with a few more participants!)

Pete Carroll gone from Seattle, moved to a advisory role within the club…

Did not see that coming!!! Happy tho. 😃

Cleveland (1-6) @ Houston

Pittsburgh @ Buffalo (7-12)

I've been flat out all week and haven't even seen any results yet (I've just now watched the 6 minute highlights of Buffalo/Miami and that's all I've seen) so this comes as a shock! Thanks for running this comp @Macca a bit of fun during the NFL season! I think initially I had Philly and changed to Seattle at the last minute, who says you should never change a tip!

I'll have to make sure I'm back next season to defend my crown 👑

Bill Belichick sacked!

Well, a parting of the ways with Bill being paid out but from all reports, Belichick didn't want to leave

Apparently he was to be paid $24Million for next season.  Who walks away from that sort of money?

The question is will he land somewhere else at the age of 71?  I'd say yes as there will be at least one team that will want him

Mike V will prob end at the pats. And he would get more or the same amount at another team. Jags would be very interested I reckon.

And [censored] Seattle.

Browns 7-12

Dolphins 1-6

Bills 13+
Cowboys 13+
Lions 13+
Eagles 7-12

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
