Have had this conversation elsewhere. Donald gets double or triple teamed on every play and still leads the sack numbers. QBs get protected by officials more than ever. Donald is the real MVP as far as I am concerned.

Spot on. Would love to see him take it out as he's been the true meaning of most valuable player.

Another 3 sacks for AD99 today.

Some decent games, Steelers made a meal of their game time and time again. They should have beaten the saints today which makes me even more [censored] at them ?

All to play for in the final week in the tipping comp.  Remembering that 3 points are up for grabs so in theory,  we are all in contention to either win outright,  or to share the award with 1 or 2 others.

Risks almost certainly have to be taken by those not leading but the week doesn't offer up too many potential road winners with only a couple of standouts.  But as we've seen previously,  the road winners are often there so good luck to all.

Just a gut feel Dappa ... Foles and all that.  Home field,  trap game for the Texans.  Everything on the line for Philadelphia.

You'll need the Bears to win obviously as well as take care of business against Washington.

If you do beat Washington then it could be assumed that the Bears go all out against the Vikes in search of the 2 seed just in case the Rams slip up.  There again,  the Bears could pull a few of their starters at half time or earlier if it looks like the Rams are going to win their game against the Niners.

If you just miss it will be a big case of 'What if' ... and this great chemistry that happens with the team,  Foles & Pederson will still be hovering about.  For others reading this post, here are the playoff standings in the NFC

It's a fun, albeit "meh" way of finishing off the year. Dirty feeling. Eagles make playoffs, they're not getting past the Div game at best. Bears, Saints, Rams all comfortably better. Dallas swept too.

Not to play it down though. A lot of clubs would love to be reigning champs with a week 17 chance. And the Foles thing has reached fever pitch. A little background from your friendly neighbourhood thread starter... I got into Eagles cos of a Philly tragic (we traded.... I follow Eagles and Phillies, he follows Aussie cricket team and Demons)... He's the biggest Wentz guy going. Got onto him well before I did. And he actually wants to trade Wentz and keep Foles.

I said "tell him he's dreaming"... he didn't get the reference.

Isn’t the Rams game later than the bears game?

I thought we started at 8:25, the others 5am. So the result could alread6 be known by the Rams.

From what I can see, Skins-Eagles, Rams-49ers and Vikings-Bears all on at the 4.25 slot. So Monday morning. But they'll know where they're at mid game. If Rams are 3 TDs up, Bears could take their foot off the pedal, bench Trubiski, and watch Bears end Eagles season.

Hail Mary time.

Lions, Eagles, Colts

As we discussed earlier in the year Dappa,  the whole Wentz/Foles/Pederson/Team & team success/chemistry thing going on at the Eagles is highly unusual.  The thing about Foles is that he is a big occasion player who is otherwise often quite average - and that's the red-herring that is hard to evaluate & quantify.

Could it be that Foles is always going to be a good player with Pederson as the head coach?  If so,  what to do?  And I reckon that the Eagles can do ok during the playoffs if you do make it ... but I reckon it's so wide open that any of the wild-card teams could do ok.  For instance; Seattle & the Chargers are not to be underestimated.

Both games (Eagles @ Washington & Niners @ Rams) are to played in the late afternoon Gorg.  And the Rams will probably be assuming that the Bears win so they have to go all-out at least until the game is safe.  But divisional games can often throw up close tussles so both games could be close anyway.  Who knows?

McVay said early week we are playing all starters, Gurley May miss again but through injury and with CJ Anderson lighting the place up last week there is less a big rush for Gurley.

Apart from anything else the Rams have to win to ensure the securing of the 2 seed.  It's hard to see the Saints slipping up against Carolina especially with Cam Newton not playing so the 1 seed is almost certainly out of reach.  But you never know.

And divisional games are often close so you can't take the game against the Niners lightly at all.  I'm tipping we're going to see some sort of drama!

Even if saints lose @Macca they can’t lose #1 seed as they beat us.

We might rest some in later snaps if we are well up.

Oh yeah,  I'd forgotten about that Gorg.  So much to remember!

In any event,  you are still playing for the 2 seed and that is all important.  It might mean either playing at Chicago or hosting the Bears at your house (in week 2)

It’s why the Steelers have become one of my hated teams, they should have beaten the saints last week.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
