Mock Trades

Hale would be an option! The Pick 14 and Thronton for Taz is complete utter silliness but good crack at some deals there, love the Maric 4 Davey!

Dees pretty quiet in rumours atm! Normally at work I hear a few but not many at all as yet, which could actually be a GOOD sign! Hpwever, one thing I can say is that picks are not on the agenda, Warnock to Blues is on, but far more likely to involve another club as well or be a player swap for say Setanta or Hampson etc

I am surprised that there has been little if any comment on the first trade in this post.

Were we to get A(nother) Davey for Maric surely we would grab it with both hands.

If not IMO Maric will probably just be delisted.

No Mono,,, Maric has 1 Yr to run on contract, he's nearly ready to deliver. But to me, my question re him is temperament, he could be almost anything, but then could be a big headache to.

I don't know but wouldn't be totally surprised or disappointed, If we were to trade. But maybe next year would be more beneficial, especially if he has a breakout year.

Melbourne: Pick 19

Carlton: Matthew Warnock

I've been wondering whether we could possibly get involved with Carlton in another trade that would net us another first round draft pick.

I really think it would be worth our while to continue along our recruiting path of recent years and manage to finish with two top 20 picks. It would give a good opportunity to further develop the list. But would the Blues go that way again? :)

Tend to agree as it gives Carlton a tall defender (Warnock) which is what they need

Carlton,s trend seems to be looking for experienced players and not kids so expect that direction to continue

Really believe we need to get another early opportunity to draft another player like Fitzpatrick (KP Forward / Ruck)

but far more likely to involve another club as well or be a player swap for say Setanta

Hope not.

I've spent years bagging the crap out of him to all my Carlton friends (Saint Sultana). Embarrassment much!

Always one anal in the mix!

Huh?

Heard some rumour about us being pretty keen on Hale today.

GC is more likely to get him but who knows....

Wouldn't want to give up much.

Hale would be at no.672 on my list of AFL players to chase.

Thank god the FD don't think like some of us.

I particularly liked the Tarrant to Carlton one, for pick 14 and L. Clogger.

Dropping yet another first round pick for a player that very well could be all but done.

The word is that Maric wants out. I have been told by Club sources that he can't see himself getting a run in the seniors with the likes of Jetta and Aussie filling the role. I think a trade for Maric looks likely

4 characters and you had to edit it???

lift your game rpfc ;)

I had to edit it because Mr Orange placed it in the quote box from my post, leaving his line unquotable.

I thought it prudent to ask what 'there's always one anal in the mix (sic)' means...

Relax . . . I was only kidding you ;)

BTW, not taking sides, but I'm sure you did understand what he meant

Pick 12 is off limits. I considered it with regard to Mundy. That matter is now closed. Pick up best available is still the mantra.

With regard to Warnock, if there is interest in him, it is worth looking at. I would imagine Tarrant will be highly sort after from the likes of the Blues, Hawks and even his former club the Magpies now that he wants to leave Freo and return to Victoria. Tarrant would be priority no.1 as a backman.

It is a good question and quite amusing..."would the Blues go that way again?"

Warnock offers insurance for us down back if Frawley goes down or maybe a Rivers. However, he is limited to the Fullback position and doesn't offer much for rebound and his agility in the air is average (compared to the longer reaching Rivers). If Carlton fall out of contention for Tarrant, and are interested in MW and pick 19 18 is thrown on the table...it is high five's for all (as far as Melbourne is concerned.. ;) ).

Two top 20 picks would be a big plus for a developing side continuing to build & recruit amidst the GOLD rush (GC & GWS Draft concessions). Given all of the Gold Coast picks, any established AFL side (in development phase '3') to have two picks inside the top 20 would be very much worthwhile. Reinforces the foundation.

I think pick 19 is too high for either Warnock or Tarrant.

It'd be more likely to be pick 19 for Warnock & pick 33.

Melb: jones to essendon

essendon: houli to Richmond

Richmond: tambling to Melbourne

(Only if jones wants to leave)

Inequitable trade and we lose the most of anyone.

I'll be interested to see what deal is done for Tarrant.

He's probably only got 2 years in him, but is still a very good defender.

Question is what is a 30 year old quality defender worth???

Carlton's First Round Pick is 18

Richmond, Essendon & Western Bulldogs are all clubs who I reckon would be interested in Maric.

Good call on the doggies possibly wanting Maric.

They do lack a decent FP.

Is Maric decent though ?

And who is that young small solid chap who played the final against Sydney for his debut ?

There's no doubting Maric's potential and that he was a quality junior. If Melbourne do trade Maric I think we'll be banking on his potential to get us a good deal.

Think the guys name was Christian Howard or something like that. Looked ok, nothing sensational. I'd rate Maric ahead of him personally.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
