The Billie Smedts Thread

Reasonable case put forward. Although, on the flipside with Cheney being traded, McNamara delisted our depth for down back has eroded a little. Strauss is no guarantee either to make it - I hope he does.

Nothing against Darling, Lynch as I'm sure they are in the mix. As I've stated previously I think these two might go before pick 12.

Any chance we might rookie Tommy Mac? Can we?

We can & we might.

As E25 stated ^... we could.

That draft was a shocker and there wasn't a lot of stars available at pick 12.

In fact, emerging from that train wreck with McDonald and Howe make doesn't make it too bad for us in retrospect.

Reopen the Jack Darling thread. Or the Lucas Cook thread.  It was a shocker. Salvaged Howe and McDonald luckily.

Darling was a killer.  Discipline issues apparently!! Top 5-10 draftee who slipped 26.

7 years. 150 games.  270 goals later.

Mmmm, id put the context of J Kennedy taking the best forward week in week out, as helpful to those aforementioned stats...vs being in our rabble...Jimmy Magner drilling it down his throat...*cough*

Thank god this isn't a thread on someone suggesting we pick him up.. I would have deactivated my account if it was

A few other pretty handy late pickups though too Luke Parker at 40, Viv Michie at 44, Paul Puopolo at 66, Jeff Garlet at 85 (promoted rookie), Cameron Pedersen as a rookie (for North), Jeremy McGovern as a rookie, Michael Hibberd in the pre season.

Ahhh, the old draft lotto at it's best.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
