$300K? But all the other supporters on BF told me he is a spud. Why aren't our contract gurus reading BF and realising that he should be paying us?

Seriously though, I look forward to seeing a bigger Jack ragdoll defences for many years to come and then holding a premiership cup in one hand as the other gives Lethal a giant bird.

Jack is the happiest guy in the rooms after a win, I’ve heard him say he now feels like he belongs, like he is pulling his weight and contributing to the team. Another interesting response was when he was asked (in jest) "Geez this is a little bit different to the TAC", his reply was "Yeah 40,000 people, its crazy out there". To me that showed that he is still a kid at heart, like a 2year old horse looking at the grandstands on his first run up the Flemington straight!

You cant blame him for holding out until he showed something on the field.

He put on 9kg last pre season, lets see what he looks like come Feb 2011.

Very rarely post here but read it daily, but this got under my skin... So the occasional stupid comment doesn't happen on this site??? You should seriously 'get over yourself' the high & mighty view of all things melb being the right of only Demonland & Ology members is beyond a joke... There are many loyal & educated (& uneducated) supporters on BF who at the very least match the passion of people here, so how about we all enjoy the ride together instead of the crap being directed at fellow demons...

Get over yourself. It's a reference to the tripe that bay 13 serves up to him on a daily basis. I happily post in and read the Melbourne forum at BF under the same user name but I am also well aware of all the "Joke Watts" threads that place generates in other rooms. If you want to defend the Melbourne room then you are wasting your time because you are preaching to the choir, however if you are defending the idiots in bay 13 then you can tell it to someone else because I'm not listening.

Fair enough, next time maybe you should say that it is 'bay 13' that is causing you grief in the first place, then everyone would probably agree & have no issues with your statement...

True, but I didn't think I would have to defend it. Anyhow we seem to be on the same page now and can let this go.

Just wondering - who's "everyone"? I don't see anyone getting their knickers in a twist except you.

Hope he signed this morning as he lost 50 grand by 5.00 pm today!

Slight over top- he know would be lucky to be worth a 150k a year after today- a woeful exhibition.

Gee, doom n' gloom all around!

People forget that this is pretty much Wattsy's first season playing AFL!

Get a solid and UNINTERRUPTED pre-season into the guy, show some faith and commit to this 19 year old for 3 years, and unleash the big fella in 2011.

We're in no rush just yet.

Like Deezman said, we are in no rush.

So many on here contradict themselves, saying "he'll take a few years", but after a bad game they're the first to question why he's not doing anything.

He played poorly. He'll make it. Give him time.

I love this kid, and want to see him prove the haters wrong. NEVER have i seen such pressure from all supporters of any club. Everyone outside this club wants to see this kid fail. F*&k them all, I hope he turns out to be a dominant player for this club for the next 10 years.

Extending him is the right move.

WAtts is not in the best 22 and should NOT be in the side... he is dead weight, who is only getting a game cause he was pick one.. back to the VFL and learn to play footy

That's funny cos I could have sworn professional football people who work for our club think he is? If you honestly think players get games based on draft order you obviously don't understand that football clubs are a competitive professional environment where players get games based on performance and Jack Watts has earned a regular spot this year, not to say his spot is safe if he doesn't perform, but it's plain to see he is in our best 22.

Get behind this kid, he's trying hard, has a truckload of talent, and is an asset to our club. Who would you put in his place if he's such dead weight? Miller? Newton? Back to AFL and learn to understand footy.

Watts will not impact games regularly until he has at least 50 afl games AND until he is probably 21-22 years old.

That is not because he is a dud, it is because he is 196cm tall, yet only 84kg, and like all KPP is taking time to learn the craft and develop his body.

Option 1: get 50 games into Watts by the age of 20, he is fast tracked in his development, so that by the time his brain and body are ready to take games by the scruff of the neck, he doesn't have the experience to do so. So we have to wait a further 12-24 months before he learns how to impact games at afl level

Option 2: it takes his 4-5 years to get to 50 games, so he only learns to take games on 2-3 years later than he would otherwise. Think Gumbleton, 15 games and in his 4th season (due to injury). He is in his 4th season and is in the same development stage as Watts in his first season. Why? Purely because he hasn't played enough afl games so is still in a learning phase

Keep playing Watts and pump games into him. It will click soon and all come together. Atm, he does 1 promising thing, 1 good thing and then 1 bad thing. The bad things will get less and less.

After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
