6 goals to help bury the Dons is fine form. Just beacause a Melbourne player didn't get the nod this week doesn't mean we should downgrade Garlett.

He deserved it this week (albeit lacks the consistency of Watts and McKenzie this year) with his 6-goal effort.

McKenzie deserves a nomination - he has had a great year

Consistency of Watts??? I'd say his form has been up and down like a promisquese girl's pants! The only this that has been consistant about his year has been that you can count on him to show a couple of flashes of brilliance along with some blatant clangers (dropped marks, fumbles etc) each week!

Read my post a bit more carefully. I was comparing the consistency of Garlett's year to that of Watts'.

Watts has been gaining momentum since midway through the year - his post-match talk to Matt Burgan saw him state that he FEELS like a footballer now and is starting to play his part.

In respect to the rising star;Jordie and Jack.

To be fair he'd get a game ahead of wonna this week, and we would be the winner out of a wonna/Garlett trade, but only because of Wonna's injury concerns. Give me a fit Wonna over a fit Garlett any day.

Of the three smalls at Carlton in a trade situation I would have Eddie ahead then Yarran then Garlett. Exposed form would have Garlett/Yarran swapped, but I tend to think that Yarran is the only one of the three that could really be a superstar. Actually on the surface of it Carlton would do well to trade one of these 3.

Jordie & Jack (especially Jordie) have been thereabouts for a Rising Star nom for the past 3 or 4 weeks now. Garlett's come in with one very good game (and before him, Stratton, Grant, Hurley etc) but hardly been noticed at all in others. Jordie must have come 2nd or 3rd now each week for the past 3 weeks I would have thought.

I think that you will find that they are hoping to transform Yarren into a damaging midfielder like Davey.... Has all of the tricks and attributes except a bigger tank to play in the midfield for longer periods and the experience to know how to exploit his talents against the opposition. Davey does this beautifully now streaming through the middle from a little give or getting the ball in a damaging position to utilise his great foot skills.

Garlett is the obvious choice with 6 goals this week!!! It's about who had the best week!! The man with the best yearly consistent form will win the whole damn thing! C'mon peeps! Open the other eye sometimes!

They had to give it to Garlett after the weekend.

Scully has to be favourite to win it....purely on a consistency basis. His stats are comparable to, if not better than Dustin Martin who is ineligible.

If Scully had a "don't argue" in his bag of tricks he'd be getting the same rave reviews as Martin anyway. Having watched a bit of Richmond this year I'm a huge fan of Martin, but I have absolutely no doubt who I'd pick at #1 even with 20/20 hindsight.

Except that it isn't, there have been nominations this year (Davis is one) that were awarded on consistency of form not single game breakouts. It's a grey area of the system, and it hasn't favoured McKenzie at all.

and Woosha states in post match interviews that the eagles could challenge for the flag in a few years......

no doubt that he is showing good signs each week and is improving, but i reckon he still struggles to play 4 good quarters (as almost every player does). If he had got a nomination for any of his games this year it would only be becasue he was last years #1 pick.

Jordie on the other hand is unlucky!!!
