Magnificent!! Enough to make an old fart like me a bit teary eyed!

I have never been more connected to or proud of our club.

Does anyone have a list of the companies who donated I'd like to support their products where possible.

And I thought it was just me reading through this thread that was holding back the tears...

What a fantastic effort by a bunch of fantastic people for a FANTASTIC club.

And thanks to WJ for the commentary last night.

Bring on Sunday....

S.

I will happily put my hand up! Tell me how and when and I will be there. I dont think i was too harsh on the volunteers, in fact I stated that i appreciate them giving up their time and that I respect the fact it is a tough assigment. I will however say that the youngish blonde lass collecting on the Level 2 balcony of the MCC hadn't a clue what she was doing. But yeah, good on her for giving up her time.

I am more than happy to do it if the club wants someone. How were these people even picked?

These people like me are volunteers registered with the club, there have been numerous post about volunteering over the past few years to join,

ring the club to find out as all volunteers were asked via email if they were available.

Great updates through the night WJ.

Such a proud Demon right now.

Great work by everyone involved at the club as well as every single supporter that was able to contribute. What a platform for the entire club to launch. Fresh new players, fresh new facility, fresh start wit no debt!

Go dees!

How a football club can demolish a $5m debt & raise surplus funds in a period of the worst financial crisis to hit the planet - boggles the mind.

Other clubs & institutions around the country must be shaking their heads in disbelief.

Congratulations MFC - well done.

Quick question for anyone that might know - are the Red & Blue Foundation donations still in existence?

My understanding of themwas that they were specifically for the purchasing of equipment or facilities forthe club and that they were tax deductible.

Not to detract from the Debt Demolition because that is more important right now...

But I was just wondering how our new facilities may have affected that option.

Anyone know?

No idea E25. I am pretty sure if you call the club directly that a donation can still be made to the R&B Foundation and yes that is tax deductible. The $200 raffle this year all funds are going towards new equipment and fitting out AAMI as well. In the past the proceeds of that raffle have gone towards DD.

Nope, it's all good, found it on the MFC website.

Still in operation.

Not relevant now, but I'm just thinking in terms of going forward.

And that bloody raffle! I always get talked into buying a couple and

I never win a thing, but I often think that if I did I'd just end up sending it straight back to the club!

All in good nature of course.

I am sitting at work reading this, watching our club ledgend Jimmy on the new emblem, sucking up the tears.

I love this club!

Jimmy you are a GOD.

Hadn't gotten around to donating this year, but after last night I logged on to the MFC website the first thing this morning and tipped in $1k. Means foregoing most of my Uni scholarship for this semester, but it is soooooo worth it. I'd readily throw in a silly commerce degree to see the MFC have a decade of success and win 4 or 5 cups (maybe wishful thinking ;))

For anyone interested, if you log in via your membership account you can set up a 6-month or 12-month payment plan through the Debt Demolition link rather than faxing in the form or ringing up the club.

Hope that you all come out in force and in your guernseys on Sunday when we roll the Tiges!

A unbelievable effort by all to achieve this remarkable feat.Congratulations to all.

Proud to be a member of this great club.

Jimmy is the force that galvanised a fractured shadow of a club and provided the direction required to get everyone marching to the same tune. Great work Jim. You are a true LIVING LEGEND.

Now to make us a force again.....................

It does bring a tear to the eye; I thought we were gone several times in the last 30 or so years and to finally have a debt free, sustainable club that now competes on equal footing with the best of the teams is a dream come too.

To those that we courted but ultimately decided to go elsewhere, enjoy the view.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
