It's a shame that most of the team didn't play with that intensity, some of his team mates will view the replay and squirm at their performance.

It's not the first time he has done it this year either. In a couple of years opposition players will think twice about going a 50/50 hard ball with a bulked up Tom Scully.

Scully is one of the few positives I took out of the game yesterday.

Whilst his skills were down on usual, his ferocious attack on the footy is amazing for a player with such a small frame. He really doesn't give a stuff about what happens to him, and he has done in more often than just yesterdays game. Nearly every week I have seen him put his body in situations his more seasoned teammates wouldn't dare.

Couple his ball winning ability with his ability to get up and break away from a pack with ease, he we have a sensational player on our hands - not that we didn't already know it.

Love the kid this is what we have to look forward to in the coming years. He is the X-MAN! Does he have a nick name?

That was great, then you compare it to Davey, MacDonald and I think Garland all standing around the footy waiting for someone to pick it up, those guys wouldn't like that footage.

Skills can be worked on, but it is the nous and confidence to try and hit the targets that sets him apart.

I would rather him continue to try and go forward having confidence in his decision making then second guess himself and get caught or handball to a stationary person that has no chance of having a positive impact on the play.

I don't think there's much wrong with his kicking from a technical point of view. His kick to Dunn after breaking away from the centre was superbly weighted, as was his kick to Bate against the Bulldogs when Bate had a shoebox to work in. Errant kicks are more likely to come from poor decisions made under intense pressure with little time, or not enough movement from static teammates up the field.

I saw Ablett turn it over with a shocking kick on Friday night and Judd regularly miss targets this year. Scully's kicking gives me no cause for concern. His decision making will improve as he continues to come to grips with the tempo of the game.

At the risk of being shot down, I find it amazing that so so many people have gotten stuck into JW for slipping over all day yet Skull seems to have missed that critique, he was certainly not missed on any of the football talk shows last night, they all highlighted Skull and didnt mentions JW once.

Hound me down for mentioning JW again in this thread but it is relative to the subject matter being discussed.

Moving on from that though, Skull was terrific on the day and as hard at it as anyone as he has been numerous times this year. He and Trengove are something special, another pre-season next year and these two will go to another level again next year, two kids that are just hungry to make it as successful footballers.

Hopefully this permeates the entire club.

Becarefull just quoting selected stats as a player that handballs to targets is probably goign ot have a higher percentage than a player that kicks a lot. Plus when you compare what Grimes and Davey do with teh ball, where Grimes plays as a quaterback and does get a few kicks goign sidewides which may be easier to hit opposed to Davey who is generally running through the middle under pressure hitting up a target that is underpressure i.e. less room for error.

Completely agree with that.

I suppose my post was to show the similarities of players that play similar roles to Judd and ablett.

Yep it reminded me of when he got crunched by Hamish McIntosh against North. The good thing about that incident was that he knew that he was going to get hammered and it semed that he actually went in harder knowing this. Can't wait for him to get more confidence so that his decsion making gets better....but still showing good signs.

Cam Bruce has a very high effective rate for Hospital handballs. One of the best in the league.
