Heard an interesting snippet from Shane Healey late last night on 693.

He said that the final 8, in the last several years, has basically stayed the same after round 7.

If the Dees want to defy this stat, big win must happen against Port.

Port Power MIGHT be the only one we can win - but not confident.

I am glad we now have tough games. No place for egos or complasecency. Time for some of our Leaders to Put up or Go.

At least we won't be favorites for anything over the next 6 weeks. Time for Hard Work Melbourne Demons.

If we can generate the same intensity as we did in Round 2 then 4-5 games in our next 6 are winnable. But on yesterdays form not in a million years.

Look at Carlton & Essendon today.....Those clubs Believe. We Must get to that level, not next year-but right now.

Provided the team gets it's collective [censored] together, we'd be a decent chance to beat Adelaide and St Kilda... except that they are both away games. I'd like to say the Pies as well, but they're too damn good grrrrr.

With out a doubt the next six weeks will be very interesting to watch.

I agree with your statement "If we can generate the same intensity as we did in Round 2 then 4-5 games in our next 6 are winnable" & as you mentioned yesterdays game was savage, lets hope the players and coaching staff learn and move onto the PA game.

I agree if we play with same intensity as round 2 we can win 4-5 of these games in our next six weeks.

Carlton and Essendon do believe. It was written in press recently that collingwood finally believe.

I hope the dees can attack from the first bounce and have 11 or more running goal kickers, and believe that they can win.

There is one game and one game only that matters... Carlton.

Words do not clearly express my disgust towards that club or how much I want to beat them.

Please Melbourne, I've sat through years of utter shite from you and I've suffered in silence, so do me this one small favour and smash the bastards!

Oh and if we win 2 of those games it will be a miracle. 1 is probably pushing it as well.

Agreed. Carlton at the top of the list and then obviously Collingwood.

Our next 6 weeks are nightmarish!

That they do appear 45HG16. Won't be going to Darwin. However, I'm hoping for a pleasant surprise down at Skilled (*gulp*). Hopefully the Pies soften the [censored]'s in Friday nights *Live* blockbuster. ;)

That's not so bad. Adelaide we should beat again, although they are beginning to show some form. Port we are a chance against, but I admit they are much better this year than I thought they would be. The others probably not so much, but we did thrash Brisbane when they were on fire. As always, measure your expectations by what you predicted at the start of the season and you will see that we're actually pretty well placed right now.

Me too but it has been around for way too long and we all have to get rd of it.

youre assuming here we are destined this year to be in the eight. we arent

9-10 wil be a good and encouraging result. Finals is dreaming this year

I actually had a premonition that we would beat Geelong at the cattery this year and that I would be there to see it happen courtesy of the Powerball win I will have on the Thursday evening of the week before the game.

Best chance ever to take down the Crows at aami - i might even get over there for that one.

Port is possible...and I don't discount shaking up the Saints. Remember last year we had to tank - sorry restructure the side - late in the second quarter to get the Aints up and firing. If their season continues to wobble anything is possible.

Carlton is not out of the question either - they're up and down like us.

We should expect to win 2 of the 6 and hope for 3-3.

Going on exposed form we almost look to be as good a chance to win any of these games as we are to lose any of these games. We all but beat Coll & WB last time around while getting comfortably beaten by NM & WCE.

As the more rational posters on here have been patiently explaining to the rest, this young team is going to be up and down like a yo-yo all year long and we just have to enjoy the weeks where they turn up and try to block out the weeks where they don't while they build this team.

More likely its the perennial cliches that we need to get rid of.

Lets just win the six of them.

It's gonna be a tough 6 weeks. But we've done well in the games that we thought might be hard this year so far (Collingwod, Brisbane, Western Bulldogs). 2 of our 3 crap performances have been against teams that, talent-based, are worse than us, but who employed good tactics, pressured us, and made us play some pretty awful football.

My thinking is that teams like Port, Carlton, Geelong etc. are going to be more focused on playing their own game rather than worrying about ours. We saw against Collingwood and the Dogs that when that happens we can play a brand of football that matches it with the top clubs.

I'm not expecting more than 2 wins, considering the form that Geelong, Carlton and Collingwood are in, but St Kilda and Adelaide are more than beatable, and Port hasn't convinced me yet.

For sure. Whilst we wait intently on the return of Morton, Wonaeamirri, Jetta & Jurrah from prolonged injury/absence. Also await the likes of youngsters Blease, Tapscott, Gysberts to debut and perhaps look forward to others earning returns such as Maric, Spencer, Strauss, McNamara and Cheney.

The next month and a half is indeed a challenge for the team. There's no doubting we're all looking forward to it with much anticipation. Now that Watts has got his return out of the way, I look forward to perhaps seeing Gysberts take to the turf soon and watching the youngsters learn their craft together.

Thinking back to the NAB challenge when DB had I think Jamar, Grimes, Trengove & Gysberts in the middle for a quarter against Essendon. Wow. I like Gysberts. Inspiring selection.
