I have thought for some time we need a Demons magazine in the Newsagents, Collingwood and Essendon have one.

Get Martin Flanagan to write or edit it & i would buy it for sure.

I wonder if Matty Knights is a dart board from the Bombers Mag yet?? That was the worst Essendon effort i have ever seen last sunday....Fantastic Entertainment!! B)

Too much money to produce for not enough sales volume.

The way the club has been communicating with us online costs them virtually nothing and does the job because it is accessible to everyone.

That's just it - what more could they possibly tell us that they don't already?

Do you want the club witholding some of the information we do currently get so that they have some material for the magazine?

Do you really want to pay more for info you get for free now?

Its not just what they could tell us, it gets the name out there and shows off the great club we are. Depends on how much advertising they could sell to make it a worthwhile exercise. Most in the AFL have no idea of the Dee train that is coming their way. They still think of us as a bottom 8 side.

Don't be afraid to promote this team, they could easily be the biggest thing in AFL within a couple of years.

If anything, keep putting resources into online communication and put the rest into outreach programs targetted at specific populations (ie. universities).

Perhaps they should consider selling memberships at newsagents instead, there are several areas where our support is fairly high and they could offer the newsagents $5 for each one they sell. This would have to be tacked on to the price of course but it would mean you could buy your membership on a Saturday or Sunday if you were too busy during the week.

Newspaper circulations are falling and many magazines are struggling.

Any perceived benefits wouldn't be worth a loss-making venture.

If anything, keep putting resources into online communication and put the rest into outreach programs targetted at specific populations (ie. universities).

I tend to agree-i think the "online" articles and blogs are great, as they can be read on a phone or PC.

The Internet is open on Saturdays & Sundays. I'm yet to hear a reasonable excuse along the lines of accessibility of membership.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill.     Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
