McGrath vs Bennell ...what happened?

Featured Replies

Did Mcgrath have a blatant dig at Bennell during the match? Didn't see it, but SEN this morning reported that Ashleigh McGrath had a go at Bennell for Bennys' effort in the 3rd Q against Collingwood when he supposedly wimped out of a contested mark.

SEN indicated that McGrath walked up to Bennell and pretended to cower in front of him. Anyone pick it up?

McGrath should be more concerned with his own performance. Brisbane fans at the ground were giving it to him for turning the ball over several times.

Yeah it did happen like how you mention it. A couple of minutes later, Bennell turned Mcgrath out nicely and done him over- so justice served I suppose..

Thats good. coming from one of Bennells indig role models will only help him overcome this. I didn't see McGrath do that, & hadn't heard of this, but your news has added another wrinkle to my stuck on smile.

McGrath made some gestures about the squib and Bennell got to walk off to sing the song.

/Thread.

I saw it too.

It was on centre wing, MCC side after the ball went out of bounds. McGrath went straight up into Bennell's face and started ducking his head and carrying on.

In what was a less than subtle throwback to Voss's days as 'an elite sledger', it was a clearly premeditated act that bore no relation to anything Bennell did on the night.

Obviously the Brisbane team were worried about the impact Bennell might have with his blistering speed. They were spot on too, as Bennell ended up tearing McGrath a new [censored] over the course of the night.

Maybe next time Voss will attempt to curb Bennell by putting someone on him who has a modicum of pace, rather than a bloke who sledges well but is too old to cover such youthful speed and talent.

McGrath is a second rate footballer. He will be one of those brissie players that get the arse at seasons end.

Yeah I saw it too. Was making a ducking gesture over "that mark" Benny didn't take in the Collingwood game.

His team got pumped by 50 points, so not too fazed.

More worries about Col and Ricky having a crack in the last quarter.

Yep ... but it's all part of the game. The great point for me was that it didn't seem to phase Benny one iota, and what's more, he put his body on the line plenty of times during the game.

Interesting this, I didn't see it, but McGrath certainly heard footsteps on half back at one stage.

Yes it was clearly highlighted and replayed on television at the time. Tony Shaw in commentary (also a legendary sledger) said at the time that mcgrath may regret this by the end of the match In view of the current score. He suggested that bennel might like to go up to him at the final siren and point to the scoreboard. Unfortunately they didn't capture that!!!

Are you serious, T thats the best avatar on this forum. You should replace I instead of we.

Her little duck mouth is off putting, and there is nothing sexy about fully naked surprise shower pics via spy-cam. Plus when the subject matter is that of a ditzy, never worked an honest days work in her life princess, and a moronic, alcoholic, dildo wearing, muzzball spazamataz- I can see how that choice in avatar may have been considered classless....

How’s the new avatar working out for y’all?

I liked that munchy hand thing you had, and so did my little girl.

I noticed that the whole team were trying to verbally get under the boys skins. Obviously it didnt work as they were done "arse no lube".

If they actually focused on playing football that day instead of talking crap they may have only lost by 4 goals.... Maybe not! the way the demons played, it sent shivers down my spine. Exciting football.

They were saying that JB and Fev gave Chip and the real Warnock a bunch of crap before the bounce (ie Who are these guys? Get me a footy record so I can find out. We are going to have fun tonight). Heh. I hope they gave it back to them in the 4th.

Indeed. I'm sure those names will be well and truly imprinted now.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
