Jonathan Brown

Featured Replies

I remember a few years ago, when we were a Finals team, we were playing a Lions side at the Gabba that were bereft of their best players due to injury. We became quite warm favourites due to their 'outs'.

Naturally, we were thumped.

They interviewed our mate Trav Johnstone, and TJ indicated that there are plenty of players that can take Browny's spot if he doesn't get up.

Sounds like something that moron would say

They have plenty of other game-smashing super champion goalkickers down at Brissy that can come in

Please explain???

international students were offered free tickets to the game this Saturday.

I think we were beaten before we took the field against Brisbane for a few years, in fact even when they were the whipping boys of the competition we used to struggle against them.

Disappointing.

I was looking at this week showing us where we are at as a team against a quality side, and I was really wanting to see how Chipper, Warnock and our backline would perform up against two massive units.

I'm not complaining about it at all, it should make the job a little easier for the guys, but i do love watching our up and comers and how they approach playing on a superstar.

Don't Worry, we will have many more opportunities to play the Twin Towers-Right now Game Time & Cohesion is what our backline needs

Playing against Brown & co with another 15 odd games under the Belt can only help.

Bailey has got to make sure they ALL stay focused. It's still going to be one hell of a game.

Will they wear the "Paddle Pop" jumper????

anyone reckon we should have chip and warnock on fev?

one of them try to block his lead?

just a suggestion haha :)

If Brown is out play Chip on Fev & get him to run off him all night. Fevola won't be able to go with him up the ground.

meh which ever is better haha :)

People have lost their minds.

I suppose I see where you're coming from, but you've gotta back the club. I'll take any opportunity to move to 3-2!

Hmm.. possible merit in trying to cut out Fev completely by focusing on him, and rotating the freshest possible opponent on Brown. He may be hit for every attacking thrust and kick eight in three quarters, but he'll be buggered for the last. It'll be like Nathan Thompson's big day out which ended because Carroll kept running him onto the wing.

Other than that, we'd have to be trying to lay a tackles record. No tactic in defence is going to work if those two are getting good delivery.

In the meantime, we've also got to just keep on attacking like crazy people. There's going to be a bunch kicked against us, we just gotta get one more.

There's my plan - cut out Fev so Brown has to do all the work/leads, tackle like mad, and keep pouring on the attack.

Not impossible.

I can't believe we have only played the Lions at the G once since 2000. That was last year and we won by a point. Amazing stat.

Good news for us. Also their pinch hitting forwards (Clark, Luey) won't be suited to the conditions at all. Our small, quick forward line will work in our favour.

Lets smash em and get in the 8.

Gee that is an amazing stat...guess it was all those home games we gave up 4 all those years...glad thats in the past

at least one of those was a famous victory

God some people on this site are so anal retentive and smart arses. We can't all be Phd's in spelling (who would want to be, you must have such a happy and interesting life). I thought this site was all about the celebration of the wonderful MFC to which anyone could contribute no matter what their education and income. Unfortunately there are some melb supporters who think membership of the MCC and the ownership of an Old Melburnians tie (both of which I have but you are welcome to them) is more important than contributing to the progress of the team of the red and the blue.

Some of our fellow supporters are so far up themselves it is not funny.

You see, the thing about Melbourne supporters is they take pride in edumacation.

It stops them from doing dumb stuff like comparing Jack Watts to Luke Molan, then mouthing off about 'contributing to the progress of the team of the red and the blue'.

Most of the time.

Christ ! Thanks. I better cancel the plane tickets.

Shattering news. I was truly looking forward to watching him live at the G on a saturday night. Any chance you get to watch one the greatest forwards of our time take on melbourne is one worth watching.

I remember watching Carey destroy us one friday night, kicked 10 I think from memory. I was pretty young but I will never forget it. Not saying I like watching my team being torn to bits but its something you cant help but admire.

No excuses now, Brisbane are not ST Kilda and will struggle without Brown. There are a few little things beginning to go are way. Big chance if we can bring the intensity of the past weeks

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
