Wonderful to see young Silvagni doing well over in the west. All the best to him (as long as he plays poorly against the dees)

All just fluff and bubbles. Preseason paper filler etc.. Similar stuff written about us and other teams. We'll see what there really made of this week ;)

I dont rate freo...not one tiny little bit..will battle it out with the Toiges me thinks !!

I just hope Freo do not kick our butt because I'd hate to see your explanation then about us.

Just the usual pre-season hype. Interesting that Hill might not play next week due to injury and Pavlich didn't play. I still would like to see him play because Chip needs a hard workout against a quality opponent.

Then indeed it would say more about us than them as they simply arent much; half a dozen players and a coach who cant !!

If you think that's hype then check out what they're saying on Dockerland about the Intraclub game - http://www.dockerland.com/latest/on-the-way-to-the-flag.html. They're on their way to the flag with their young brigade so I'd like to know what's going to happen if we beat them.

Football clubs need to be cautious about believing their own press, though Freo fans are probably saying the same things about us. From a completely biased perspective, I don't think under Harvey they will improve significantly over the journey.

Morabito is a beast, no doubt about it. Be weary people, he will be unleashed on Sunday. Not expecting a win but there will be a lot to watch out for, pumped up nonetheless.

There list is promising....their coach is not.

If they perform poorly in 2010, Harvey wont last the year.

Agreed

Fremantle,s list is not as bad as the Melbourne Media has us believe as its justified by the quarters they get flogged thus losing any chance of winning games

Harvey originally was the coach most likeley when he left the Bomnbers and the first hint that he wasnt was when he was indeciseve about taking on the Frematles top job

There is no doubt he has a football brain as he showed us that when he played but he sure is having trouble communicating to his players

He seems not willing to make tough decisions and that will haunt him in the end and that end is near

What amazes me is the sheedy prodgy doesnt seem to have a plan B on game day (either that or his players dont follow it)

So far, the same could be said about Bailey.

Freo do have some promising young players, but I'm convinced their list is in as good shape as ours (in terms of having talent to develop for the future).

I think they'll be good enough to sit about 3rd-6th but never really contend for the premiership, just like collingwood are so good at doing.

Harvey has resisted making some tough decisions like we did with Trav and to a lesser extent Brock. We've managed to get a decent return.

They could get even more for Pavlich or Sandilands, yet don't. It puzzles me.

Pavlich & Sandilands would be the first two I'd keep if I was in Harvey's position.

This is why they are hard decisions.

Every Team we play at this time should be treated with Respect

Fremantle to Geelong it doesn't matter. We have no tickets in the bank.

Not one game should be taken lightly at all

The footy world will give us no more slack, nor should they.

Without resurrecting a cyst many care ignore let's just say we particularly underachiever last year. Freo achived exactly what they were capable of. Not a lot has changed for them as compared with us. Harvey couldn't arrange for drinks let alone a winning game day strategy. Where is all this quantum leap of freo improvement originating from ?

Different kettle of fish.

TJ had 10 years on our list. Finished top ten i think twice. For someone that talented, it is a massive fail. To get a first round pick for him, it was a no brainer.

Brock is not that dissimilar to Jones, Moloney and now Mckenzie. He wanted out and to get a first round pick + the likely hood of a more balanced team, it's a good deal.

Pavlich is a jet. A player you build clubs around. AA, KPP, role model Captain and prob could Captain coach as well. Really hard to sell fabric players like that.

But this is the year to sell Pav if they want to. With all the draft picks GC have and the desire to land a big fish, Pick 2,7,12 could land him. I wouldn't.

Sandilands also a very good player playing in his prime. I agree, he should be on the market.

Good summation. In relation to the Pavlova and Sandilands, they are the heartbeat of Freo. Of course, it all depends where you see Freo's list. They've added in another Bomber in McPhee of late. So, you'd think that Harvey would be pulling out all stops to finish as high as possible. Not only for his career but for where he see's his list. Yes, they have a bit of youth, but... .

I'd keep a guy like Sandilands, for sure. He can be the most dominant ruckman in the comp. In many ways he is seen as just that.

Then again, on the flipside, if the Freo board see things differently with Harvey.....a new coach may see things differently for the club. And then you could be right re: Sandilands.

A problem for freo will be as the kids really come on the older vets be be hanging up their boots they would be better off rebuilding utising whatever currency that could be had for pav and sandilands.

Id say they would be very happy with the progress of a lot of their Rookies last year.

Pearce, Van Berlo, De Boer and of course Broughton were all first year rookies that should signs they could play.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
